An Understated Dominance - Chapter 2378
Though Dalen had lost, his fans were still cheering wildly for him. His female supporters were especially loud, chanting his name. It was a scene unlike anything the other contestants had seen.
Being good-looking definitely had its advantages.
“Mr. Shade, are you alright?” Ruby asked, genuinely worried as Dalen returned to his seat.
“It’s just a minor injury. Nothing serious,” he replied with a smile, but there was a hint of sadness in his eyes.
Dalen had entered the tournament to prove himself and to make a name. Finishing in the top eight was good, but he had hoped for more. Sadly, he fell short, missing the final four. Still, he accepted losing to Fenley.
“You did well, Mr. Shade. Many contestants from the big guilds can’t compete at your level. Don’t be too hard on yourself,” Crystal said to comfort him.
“Yeah, you’re way better than me. I didn’t even make it to the top sixteen. Look at you—you’re famous and have tons of supporters. You’re impressive,” added Miles.
While Dalen had already made a name for himself in martial arts, Miles was struggling. He was badly injured, with half his body wrapped in bandages.
On the other side, Aurora smiled at Fenley. “You were amazing! You won that match without even breaking a sweat.”
“My opponent was strong, but I had the advantage in cultivation level,” Fenley explained. “If we’d been on equal ground, it would have been a tough fight.” He didn’t let his success go to his head; today’s match had truly tested him.
“Either way, you won and made it to the semifinals. Just two more wins and the championship is yours,” Aurora encouraged him.
championship, but now they had to face each other first.
“The road to the championship won’t be easy,” Fenley said, glancing at Glenn, who was meditating with his eyes closed. Fenley knew that Glenn was his toughest opponent. Beating him was the only way to win the championship, and all his other victories would mean nothing without that.
After the first match, there was a break. The day was moving slowly but surely, with plenty of time for everyone to prepare.
The crowd stayed entertained with performances while the contestants got ready for the next round. Once the music and dance show wrapped up, it was time for the second match.
Oron stepped into the battle ring and checked the matchup list. “The second match is between contestant number two, Glenn Hadley, and contestant number seven, Emeret Dwight,” he announced.
As soon as the names were called, whispers spread through the crowd. Both Glenn and Emeret were disciples of the Sword Union, making this an internal battle.
“Oh dear, Mr. Hadley. Looks like your guild is having a rough day! Your disciples are about to face each other. What a tragedy!” Alloy said with a smirk, clearly enjoying the situation. Earlier, he had been humiliated by Cyrus, and now he saw a chance for revenge.
In this tournament, even disciples from the same guild couldn’t hold back. The chance for glory was too tempting to let slip away, and if they fought fiercely, things could get intense. Alloy settled in to watch the drama unfold.
“Hmph! We may not have the best luck, but we definitely have the skills to back it up, unlike your guild,” Cyrus shot back. “Even if one of us gets knocked out, we can still win the championship. But you? Making it to the finals is far from guaranteed.”
Cyrus felt confident with two Sword Union disciples in the top eight, both having potential to reach the championship. But first, they had to face each other.
As the semifinals approached, the excitement was building, but the certainty of who would make it was quickly fading. In the second round, tensions were high.
“Ha! Instead of worrying about my students reaching the finals, maybe you should focus on your two star pupils trying to take each other down,” Alloy teased with a smirk. “They’re both so talented. Losing one would be a real tragedy!”
“Life and death are unpredictable, and luck plays a big role. Once they step into that ring, they need to be ready for anything. If they’re not strong enough, they’ll face the consequences,” Cyrus replied coldly.
“Wow! You really have a heart of stone,” Alloy shook his head in disbelief.
“Gentlemen, the contestants are already in the ring. Let’s just watch the match,” Penelope interrupted, bringing their attention back to the action.
Cyrus and Alloy exchanged sharp looks before focusing on the battle ring.
Glenn was the first to step into the ring, his sword case strapped securely to his back. With a serious expression, he stood tall and poised, radiating a sense of sharp intensity.
Emeret, on the other hand, had a much gentler presence. A warm smile lit up his face, like a breath of fresh spring air.
If Glenn was the biting cold of winter, Emeret was the sun breaking through the chill.
