An Understated Dominance - Chapter 2379
Emeret stood in the battle ring, gripping his sword tightly. A faint smile appeared on his face as he glanced at Glenn. “I didn’t think we’d face each other this soon. Looks like we can’t avoid this match.”
Glenn was known as a genius, but Emeret was not someone to overlook. He preferred to stay out of the spotlight, quietly honing his skills through intense training.
Emeret didn’t enter the Combat Tournament for fame. Instead, he wanted to test his strength. He understood that training alone wouldn’t make him better; he needed to challenge the best to truly see what he could do.
“You can’t beat me. Just give up,” Glenn said coldly. He didn’t want to go all out against someone from his own guild.
“How can you know who’s better without a fight?” Emeret replied, still smiling. “I joined the Sword Union a few years before you. You may be the Chosen One, but don’t underestimate me. Beating me won’t be easy.”
“You’re not on my level. Save your energy,” Glenn said, his tone flat.
With his sharp eyes, Glenn could see that Emeret had reached the level of a developed grandmaster. He could establish his own guild and control territory, but he still wasn’t on Glenn’s level.
“Skill isn’t everything. In the Sword Union, we often defeat stronger opponents,” Emeret said calmly, showing a mindset that was neither arrogant nor impatient.
Glenn raised an eyebrow, his expression turning cold. “What? Are you really comparing me to those losers?”
“Not at all,” Emeret said with a smile, shaking his head. “You’re the top expert on the Legendary List, and I respect that. Just remember, there’s always someone stronger. Never underestimate your opponent.”
“When my sword is drawn, it won’t stop until it draws blood. Once we start, I won’t hold back.”
got, Glenn.”
Glenn felt a surge of excitement. He had always wanted to push himself against someone of Emeret’s caliber. “Alright, I won’t hold back either,” he replied, his eyes gleaming with determination.
With a swift motion, Glenn flicked his wrist, launching another series of attacks. This time, he sent out five beams of sword aura, each one sharper and faster than the last. They raced toward Emeret, aiming for different parts of his body.
Emeret’s expression remained calm. He expertly maneuvered his sword, creating a protective barrier of silver light around him. Each beam collided with his blade, and with a loud crack, he shattered them one by one.
“Impressive,” Emeret said, a hint of admiration in his voice. “But you’ll need to do better than that.”
Glenn grinned. “Challenge accepted!” He took a deep breath, focusing his energy. Then, he charged forward, swinging his sword in a powerful arc.
Emeret met him head-on, their swords clashing with a resounding clang. The force of their strikes sent vibrations through the air, and sparks flew around them as they battled fiercely.
Each strike from Glenn was met with a counter from Emeret. They moved like dancers, fluid and precise, each trying to outsmart the other. The intensity of their duel grew, and both fighters were fully engaged, pushing their skills to the limit.
As they continued to clash, Glenn realized he was enjoying this more than he had anticipated. It was exhilarating to face someone who could match his strength and skill.
Emeret, too, felt the thrill of the fight. “You’ve improved, Glenn. This is what I wanted to see!” he encouraged, pushing himself even harder.
The energy between them crackled as they fought, each moment bringing them closer to discovering who was truly the better swordsman.
“Got it, Glenn. These attacks won’t—”
But before he could finish, Glenn raised his hand and swung it through the air.
With a loud explosion, a giant golden sword appeared in the sky. It was about 33 feet long and 10 feet wide, looming overhead like a giant mountain.
The battle ring shook as the sword came crashing down, sending a powerful force throughout the venue.
The spectators struggled to breathe, feeling as if a heavy weight was pressing on their chests.
“What an incredible force! That sword aura is terrifying!”
They watched in shock as the giant sword descended. With just a flick of Glenn’s wrist, he unleashed a force that was truly frightening.
“Hmm?”
Emeret felt a chill run down his spine as he stood in the battle ring. The smile on his face vanished, replaced by a serious expression.
The giant sword slowly descended above him, locked onto his position, leaving no chance to escape. No matter how he tried to dodge, that strike was aimed right at his head.
He realized he had only one option: face it head-on and try to disrupt its momentum before it hit.
“Phoenix Summoning!” Emeret gritted his teeth and unleashed his ultimate move without hesitation.
He spun around, creating a powerful gust of wind that howled as it swirled around him. In an instant, a translucent phoenix appeared in the air.
