An Understated Dominance - Chapter 2381
“Phoenix Soaring!”
Emeret felt immense pressure as he summoned every bit of his strength. His internal energy surged like a tidal wave, flowing into his silver sword, which began to glow brightly.
He leaped into the air, merging with his sword to transform into a giant Sacred Phoenix. With a powerful cry, the phoenix soared toward the golden sword that was coming down from above.
The silver phoenix, shining brilliantly, flapped its wings and created a fierce windstorm. Its strength was incredible, making it seem like it could break through the clouds and fly high into the sky. After a moment in midair, it turned to face the golden sword.
Suddenly, a loud boom echoed as the ground shook and energy burst forth in all directions. The battle ring trembled, and the protective barrier rippled like water. It felt as if it might collapse at any moment. In the heart of the explosion, the golden sword collided with the phoenix’s beak, pressing down with crushing force and pushing the Sacred Phoenix toward the ground.
With another thunderous crash, the phoenix buckled under the weight and crashed into the battle ring. Dust and debris filled the air as the ground violently shook, creating deep cracks across the ring that looked like jagged scars.
When the dust finally settled, everyone was left in shock. The battle ring, which was about 100 yards wide, was now covered in cracks that formed a giant spider web.
In the center was a deep pit, roughly 30 feet wide. Emeret was half-kneeling in that pit, gasping for breath.
His clothes were torn, his hair was a mess, and dust covered his face, with blood dripping from his hands. He looked particularly worn out.
The once brilliant silver sword lay broken in half, its shine completely gone.
Emeret leaned on his broken sword, trying hard to stay on his feet. After taking a few ragged breaths, he couldn’t hold back any longer. He coughed up blood, his face pale and his strength completely gone.
In contrast, Glenn stood still and cold, showing no sign of emotion since the match started. Emeret knew he had lost, and it felt like a heavy blow. When Glenn drew his sword, Emeret understood just how far behind he was.
There were no flashy moves in the fight, just a single downward strike that nearly ended his life. If it hadn’t been for the surge of power that let him use Phoenix Soaring, a technique that absorbed most of the strike’s force, he would have already been dead.
Before the match, Emeret had felt confident. He thought his advanced sword skills would let him fight Glenn evenly. But now he realized that no technique mattered against such raw power. If he couldn’t even block one strike from Glenn, what right did he have to challenge him?
“Oh my gosh! Is this really the strength of the number one on the Legendary List? It’s terrifying!” someone gasped.
“They’re both from the Sword Union, and Emeret joined a few years before Glenn. Yet, he couldn’t even take one hit from Glenn’s sword. It’s unbelievable!” another whispered.
“Based on what I’m seeing, there’s no doubt that Glenn is going to win the champion title in this Combat Tournament!” someone else remarked.
As the spectators looked at Glenn, who stood confidently in the ring, they couldn’t help but talk among themselves. Emeret wasn’t weak; he had fought hard to reach the top eight, proving he was one of the best.
Glenn was a force to be reckoned with. He easily defeated his opponent, leaving everyone in the venue in awe of his strength. No one had shown such power as Glenn, and it was clear that he was on a different level.
“What kind of monster is that guy?” Aurora frowned, her thoughts racing. “He took down his senior with just one hit. He’s so ruthless!” She had always thought Fenley would win the tournament after his recent breakthrough, but Glenn’s performance made her doubt that.
Alicia felt uneasy as she watched. “He really deserves the top spot on the Legendary List. He’s incredible,” she thought. Until now, her understanding of Glenn had come mostly from rumors, and she hadn’t really seen what he could do. In his earlier matches, his opponents weren’t very strong, and even in victory, he hadn’t shown much of his strength. But that last strike changed everything for her.
Fenley, too, was feeling the weight of Glenn’s power. “He’s definitely a tough opponent,” he said, his eyes narrowing as he took on a serious look. Before breaking through himself, Fenley thought Glenn was slightly stronger than him. But after his own breakthrough, he felt confident he could beat Glenn. Now, however, he was filled with doubt.
It wasn’t just that Glenn had won; it was how easy it had seemed for him. Fenley couldn’t tell if Glenn had even used his full strength. That uncertainty was the scariest part of all.
