An Understated Dominance - Chapter 109
Dustin’s true identity was revealed, and Duane felt defeated. His eyes were dull, as if all hope had left him. He knew he was done for. No one was coming to save him, and no one dared to try.
“Take him away!” Hunter commanded his men to tie up Duane. Even though he knew the truth, Duane felt trapped in Azkaban. The only way out was through death, to be carried out for cremation.
“Stop right there! What are you doing? Leave that man alone!” Oliver suddenly appeared, flanked by two female bodyguards, and confronted Hunter. He hadn’t intended to get involved, but Duane had messed up badly. How could he lose a fight? Oliver had to step in before Duane ended up locked away for good. Duane still had some value to Oliver, especially since he wanted the precious gemiphen.
“You have no right to interfere. Stay out of this,” Hunter warned coldly.
“Too bad, I’m not backing down. What are you going to do about it?” Oliver replied, walking confidently towards Dustin with his hands in his pockets.
“Are you one of Duane’s men?” Dustin asked casually.
“Duane? With his skills, he’s more like my underling! But I have a business deal with him. No one can take him without my permission. So, you better release him now!” Oliver declared, holding his head high.
“And what if I refuse?” Dustin asked.
“You refuse? Do you even know who I am? Do you know who my father is? How dare you talk back to me? Are you looking for trouble?” Oliver shot back with a sneer.
“I don’t care who you are or who your father is. It’s best for you to stay out of this,” Dustin replied firmly.
“Deal with Duane,” Dustin said casually.
“Have you lost your mind? Emma, Anna! Break this punk’s legs! Let’s see if he can keep talking down to us while he’s on the ground!” Oliver grinned, clearly enjoying the moment.
“Yes, sir!” The two female bodyguards behind him rushed toward Dustin at the same time.
They moved to hit Dustin’s knees, aiming to take him down without hesitation.
Dustin, however, was ready. He made the first move, slapping both of them hard on the cheek.
Stunned by the unexpected blow, they stumbled back.
“You!” they shouted, holding their sore cheeks as they tried to draw their swords.
Before they could react, Dustin kicked one in the stomach and slapped the other on the other cheek.
Dazed, the two bodyguards swayed, seeing stars.
“You need to learn your lesson! How dare you sneak attack me?” Oliver shouted, his anger boiling over.
He charged at Dustin, ready to punch him.
It was clear Oliver was skilled in martial arts. His fists were quick and precise.
But Dustin wasn’t fazed. He caught Oliver’s fist and twisted it painfully.
Oliver cried out as his arm dislocated.
Before he could recover, Dustin hit him hard in the stomach.
Oliver flew back several feet and landed heavily on the ground, the impact making him sick.
“Sir!” The female bodyguards rushed to Oliver, concern etched on their faces.
“Kill him! I order you to kill him!” Oliver shouted, his voice filled with rage.
“Right now!” Oliver shouted, clutching his stomach and glaring fiercely.
“There is no mercy for anyone who hurts our boss!” The female bodyguards swiftly drew their swords, ready to fight.
“Nobody moves!” Hunter suddenly yelled, pulling out his gun.
The bodyguards froze, startled by Hunter’s threat. They didn’t dare to move.
“You fool! Do you know who I am? How dare you point a gun at me?” Oliver stood up, his face turning red with anger. “I’m Oliver Williams from the Boulderthorn guild! My father is second-in-command!”
“Boulderthorn guild?” Hunter’s expression turned serious at Oliver’s words.
As the top guild in the South, Boulderthorn held immense power in Swinton. Even Edwin, the richest man in town, was just a regular member of the guild. This showed how strong Boulderthorn truly was.
“What, are you scared?” Oliver laughed mockingly as everyone remained quiet. “Now that you know who you’re dealing with, kneel and beg for forgiveness. If you don’t, I will destroy you and your entire family!”
What good were guns or fighting skills compared to the influence of the Boulderthorn guild? With just one word, Oliver could wipe them all out like ants. That was the power of authority!
“Boulderthorn, huh?” Dustin remained unfazed by Oliver’s threat. “What if I kill all three of you right now? Then no one would know what happened here.”
“Kill me? How dare you!” Oliver’s eyes widened in shock. “If you even touch a hair on my head, I promise you’ll end up in pieces.”
“Since you threatened my family, what do I have to fear? An eye for an eye…”
“An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth,” Dustin said with a shrug.
Oliver took a step back, fear creeping in. He wasn’t ready to fight, and he knew it would be a problem if Dustin decided to act on his words.
“I’ll remember this, punk! I’m not done with you!” Oliver shouted, realizing the situation was not in his favor. He quickly left with his bodyguards, feeling defeated.
A wise person knows when to avoid a fight, especially when the odds are against them. For someone of Oliver’s noble status, risking his life wasn’t worth it.
“Mr. Anderson, what do you know about Boulderthorn?” Dustin asked, watching Oliver and his group leave.
“The Boulderthorn guild has been growing quickly. With their strong reputation in martial arts, they’re on track to become the top guild in the South. Their members are involved in many different areas, which helps them extend their influence. Plus, I heard they plan to open a branch in Swinton. That man’s father, Mr. Williams, was sent here as a representative for the new branch,” Hunter explained quietly.
Dustin nodded, taking in the information. It seemed that Mr. Williams had some connection to the Boulderthorn guild.
