An Understated Dominance - Chapter 110
At the Nicholson villa, everyone was thrilled to see Dahlia return home safely. “Dahlia, you’re finally back! I was so worried about you!” said Florence.
“Are you okay? Did anyone bully you while you were being interrogated?” James asked, looking concerned.
Florence and James were overjoyed. Ever since they had heard that Dahlia was detained by Mr. Gardner, they had been very anxious about her safety. They had used all their connections and spent a lot of money trying to get her released, but they had not heard anything. They felt hopeless.
Just when they were about to give up, Dahlia showed up at home on her own.
“Mother, I’m fine. I’m sorry for worrying you,” Dahlia said with a smile. She felt a little shaken by everything that had happened that day, but she was grateful to be back home.
“It’s all Dustin’s fault! If it weren’t for him, you wouldn’t have been captured!” Florence said angrily.
“Mom is right! That shameless guy is always up to no good! Sis, you should stay away from him to avoid getting involved in his trouble!” James added.
“Actually, this has nothing to do with him. He was set up by someone else,” Dahlia defended Dustin.
“How can that be? If he’s really innocent, why was he arrested?” Florence asked.
“Yeah, why would someone frame him if he wasn’t doing anything wrong? It must mean he has bad character!” James chimed in, agreeing with Florence.
Dahlia sighed, feeling defeated.
“If it were up to me, I would choose Matt. When he heard you were detained, he went out looking for help to get you released. A guy like him is hard to find these days!” Florence quickly changed the subject.
“That’s right! Sis, Matt really cares about you,” James said, nodding in agreement.
back his frustration. He grumbled as he watched Dustin enjoy his meal.
“Why do you always have to be so boring?” he complained.
Dustin just shrugged. “Breakfast is for food, not drinks. You can have your alcohol later.”
Meanwhile, back at Dahlia’s place, she was still thinking about Matt. She couldn’t shake the feeling that he was somehow connected to her past and another person she cared about.
Her cousin Julie was coming to visit the next day, and Florence had suggested inviting Matt over. But Dahlia wasn’t sure if she wanted to see him.
As she pondered this, she felt a mix of gratitude and confusion about Matt’s involvement in her life.
Later that morning, at the Peaceful Medical Center, Dustin was busy preparing breakfast.
“Let’s eat!” he called out from downstairs.
“I’m coming! Why are you in such a hurry?” an old man asked as he slowly made his way down with a cane.
“Hey, punk! Where’s the alcohol?” the old man demanded, looking grumpy.
“No alcohol for breakfast. Just soup,” Dustin replied, handing him a bowl of chicken soup.
“I won’t eat if there’s no alcohol!” the old man protested, crossing his arms.
“Suit yourself,” Dustin said, unfazed. He sat down and started enjoying his breakfast.
The old man scowled but couldn’t help watching Dustin eat. He huffed but eventually picked up the soup and took a sip, realizing he was actually hungry.
As they both settled into breakfast, the day was just beginning, full of possibilities and unexpected moments.
Dustin was just about to finish his meal.
“Geez, what a rude young man!”
He lifted the bowl and gulped down the soup quickly.
“Here, this is the Panax root you asked for. Keep it safe,” he said after breakfast.
He then placed a cedar wood box on the table.
“Oh, did you find another rare herb? You’re really efficient!” the one-eyed man said in surprise.
“I still need four more herbs. I hope I can gather them all in time,” Dustin replied.
“Don’t rush it. Let fate take its course,” the old man said casually.
For him, each day was a precious gift.
Just then, a silver Bentley pulled up to the medical center, interrupting their chat.
A beautiful woman stepped out of the car and walked over to them.
“Wow, what a beauty! She has curves in all the right places! Dustin, aren’t you divorced? Don’t you want to marry her?” the old man laughed joyfully.
“Shut up, old man!” Dustin shot him a glare as he stood up to greet her. “Ms. Harmon, what brings you here?”
“What? Am I not welcome?” Natasha smirked.
“Of course you are. Please, have a seat.” Dustin pulled out a chair for her.
“You must be Old Mr. Whiskey? I heard you love alcohol, so I brought you some homebrewed ale as a gift,” Natasha said with a smile as she placed two bottles on the table.
“I’ll be happy as long as I have some alcohol! A glass of good ale is worth its weight in gold!” the one-eyed man exclaimed, his face lighting up.
He had just been complaining about not having any alcohol, and now this was perfect.
“If you like, I can send you alcohol every day,” Natasha chuckled.
“You’re such a thoughtful young lady, much better than that Dahlia girl!” the one-eyed man grinned, clearly pleased.
“Punk, you’re really lucky to have met someone as great as Ms. Harmon. You should treasure her!”
“Just take your drinks and leave!” Dustin replied, clearly annoyed.
“Okay, okay. I’ll go upstairs to drink by myself. I don’t want to be a bother.” The old man grabbed both bottles and headed up the stairs.
“Ms. Harmon, I’m sorry for that old man. He can be rude and clueless,” Dustin said with a shy smile.
“I don’t think he said anything wrong. Are you upset?” Natasha raised her eyebrows.
“No,” Dustin shook his head quickly.
“Then it’s all good.” Natasha chuckled.
“By the way, I went through a lot to help you get out of that interrogation room. How are you going to repay me?”
“Can I take you out to dinner?” Dustin asked, a bit unsure.
“That’s too predictable,” Natasha rolled her eyes.
“Well, what do you want instead?” Dustin asked, confused.
Without saying a word, Natasha closed her eyes, pointed to her bright red lips, and motioned for Dustin to kiss her.
