An Understated Dominance - Chapter 122
Ruth watched Julie’s happy face and struggled to keep her anger in check.
“Pretty lady, I really need that Luminianth Root. Can’t you sell it to me? I’ll pay you 20 million!” Ruth pleaded, trying to stay calm.
Julie hugged the wooden box tightly and replied, “So what if you have money? You want my Luminianth Root? Dream on!” She looked very proud of herself.
Ruth was furious. She had never been treated this way before. Finally, she gave up and said, “Dustin! I can’t deal with this anymore! You handle it!”
Dustin, watching the exchange, asked Julie, “What do you plan to use the Luminianth Root for?”
“That’s none of your business!” Julie shot back, glaring at him. “I will never sell the Luminianth Root to you, no matter what!”
Dustin tried to reason with her. “But that’s a huge Luminianth Root. You won’t be able to use it all if it’s for medicine—”
Before he could finish, Julie interrupted, “Shut up! Even if I can’t use it all and it goes to waste, I still won’t sell it!”
Dustin frowned, surprised by her stubbornness.
“Boss! Card!” Julie quickly grabbed the card from Florence and handed it to the shop owner. She was determined not to back down.
“Julie! 15 million dollars is way too much!” Florence exclaimed, nearly collapsing. That was all her savings!
“Aunt Florence, it’s just 15 million! It’s nothing. I promise I’ll pay you back double when I earn money!” Julie said confidently.
Florence couldn’t help but twitch her lips at what she heard.
“How many blue moons would it take for you to earn that much money?” she thought to herself.
After the transaction was completed, Julie was in a great mood. She teased Ruth and Dustin, saying, “You guys have never seen anything as precious as this, have you? I’ll be nice and let you see it for the first time!”
With that, she quickly opened the wooden box.
Everyone leaned in to look, and inside was a Luminianth Root, about the size of a palm.
The root was dark grey, looking scrawny and wilted. It seemed dry and lifeless. When someone touched it, it crumbled into powder, and a piece broke off.
“Huh?” Julie frowned and asked, “Boss, are you sure this is Luminianth Root? It looks really suspicious.”
The root was not what she had expected at all.
“Of course! I harvested this Luminianth Root myself yesterday! It’s definitely the real thing!” the shop owner said with a grin.
“Why does it look dead?” Julie was not convinced.
“Boss! Did you just scam us by selling a fake Luminianth Root?” Florence asked, shocked and worried.
“How could I do that?” The shop owner smiled nervously. “This Luminianth Root is real. It just looks a bit ugly, but it’s still genuine!”
“That’s not right,” Dahlia said, examining the Luminianth Root. “It is a Luminianth Root, but it’s clearly wilted. There’s no sign of life at all. It’s like a piece of wood. How can you sell it for such a high price?”
“What? A piece of wood?!” Florence and Julie gasped in disbelief.
No wonder it didn’t look right.
“Damn you, fatty! You lied to us! Give us our money back now!” Florence shouted, her face bright red with anger.
“That’s right! We want a refund!” Julie added, finally regaining her composure.
Did he really think he could trick her out of 15 million dollars for a worthless piece of junk?
