An Understated Dominance - Chapter 123
“Listen, we’ve made our terms very clear. You wanted to buy it; I didn’t force you,” the shop owner said without concern.
“Enough of this nonsense! I don’t want this Luminianth Root anymore. Just give me a refund!” Julle yelled, grabbing the owner by the collar.
“What? Are you trying to cause trouble in my shop?” the owner replied, his expression unchanged. He clapped his hands once.
A group of strong men stepped out from the back room.
Seeing their fierce faces, Julle and her friends fell silent.
“Are you out of your minds? How dare you create a scene in Mr. Walter’s shop?” one of the men said.
“It’s clear they have no idea about the rules here,” another added.
“Exactly! They didn’t even check the item before making a bid. That shows how clueless they are,” a third chimed in.
The crowd began to gossip among themselves.
“What? You think I’m scared just because you have a few tough guys?” Florence shot back, trying to act brave. “You better give me a refund now, or I’ll sue you for fraud!”
“Go ahead, sue me if you want,” Mr. Walter said, unfazed by her threats. “I sold you a Luminianth Root, and that’s what you got. You set the price; it’s not my fault. Suing me won’t help you!”
“You—!” Florence gritted her teeth, knowing she couldn’t act because of the men around her.
“You fat jerk! Why didn’t you tell us the Luminianth Root was defective?” Julle shouted, frustrated by the situation.
“I handed you the Luminianth Root before you paid. Now you’re blaming me because you didn’t check it yourself?” Mr. Walter replied.
Walter responded confidently.
Julie felt her anger rising at his words, but there was nothing she could do. Even though she didn’t pay for the item, she still felt cheated.
“Hahaha! 15 million for a piece of wood! That’s hilarious!” Ruth laughed, showing no empathy. Now, she had the chance to get back at them for their past teasing.
“Mind your own business!” Julie snapped back.
“Actually, I should thank you for not selling it to me. If you had, I would’ve been the one getting scammed!” Ruth continued to laugh.
“You— you!!” Julie was furious. She felt like steam was coming out of her ears, and her face turned bright red. It was clear she was ready to explode.
“Miss, didn’t you say you wanted to buy Luminianth Root? We can sell it to you for 20 million dollars,” Florence said eagerly, as if she had just seen a miracle. She quickly brought the Luminianth Root to Ruth.
“Do you think I’m stupid? You really want 20 million for this piece of junk?” Ruth scoffed.
Even though Ruth was wealthy, she wasn’t foolish. A wilted Luminianth Root wouldn’t help anyone.
“If you think that’s too expensive, I can lower the price. How about 15 million?” Florence pleaded, desperate to make a sale.
“Not a chance,” Ruth replied firmly.
“Okay, how about 10 million? That’s a good deal, right? We’re already losing money!” Florence begged, her forehead starting to sweat.
“Do you really think this is worth 10 million dollars?” Ruth looked at Florence as if she were out of her mind.
“Just five million! I’ll sell it for five million!” Florence cried, hoping to close the deal.
Florence was close to crying. She looked around the room, feeling desperate. “Please, someone! Will anyone be kind enough to buy it for five million dollars?”
At that moment, she knew she couldn’t ask for the original price. She just wanted to reduce her loss as much as possible.
“Stop wasting your breath. Only a fool would buy this junk!” Ruth said, her lips pressed tightly together.
Just as she finished speaking, a voice came from the back of the room.
“I’ll buy it for five million dollars.”
