An Understated Dominance - Chapter 131
“You slut! How could you seduce my boyfriend? I’ll make your life miserable!” Tina shouted at Dahlia.
Tina pushed wine on Dahlia, making her feel embarrassed in front of everyone. She was aggressive and relentless. By the time the wine bottle was empty, Dahlia was on the ground, unable to stand.
But Tina didn’t stop there. She grabbed Dahlia’s hair and pulled her head up. Then, she started to slap her, each hit harder than the last. “How dare you mess with my boyfriend? How dare you?” Tina screamed, almost losing control.
When Tina finally stopped, Dahlia’s face was swollen, bruised, and blood was trickling from the corner of her mouth. “Why? Why?” Dahlia gasped, trying to catch her breath.
“You have the nerve to ask why? Do you not know what you’ve done?” Tina shouted, grabbing Dahlia’s hair again and slamming her head against the ground. Blood poured out, mixing with the wine on her face.
Seeing Dahlia lying there, unable to move, only seemed to thrill Tina. She raised her foot and stomped down hard on Dahlia’s fingers.
“Ah!” Dahlia let out a scream, unable to hold back any longer. The pain was overwhelming.
“You shameless girl! You think it’s okay to flirt with other men? Let’s see you try to seduce my boyfriend again!” Tina’s face twisted into a crazed smile as she repeatedly stepped on Dahlia’s hands with her stilettos, each stomp more brutal than the last.
Soon, Dahlia’s hands were a horrifying mess of cuts and blood. The pain drained the life from her face, and she felt helpless.
Dahlia trembled uncontrollably. Even the strongest man would struggle to endure such cruel treatment, let alone a woman like her. Most people in the crowd felt sympathy for her when they saw her condition. Surely, stealing didn’t deserve such harsh punishment. It was far too cruel.
“Dahlia, you can’t blame me for this,” Julie said, shaking like a leaf in the corner. “You brought this on yourself by messing with Ms. Hummer’s boyfriend.” Julie never imagined Tina would be so unforgiving. It seemed she was close to torturing Dahlia beyond recognition.
“She’s out cold,” a bodyguard informed Tina. Dahlia had passed out from the abuse. Her fingers were broken, and her palm was covered in blood. It was a horrifying sight.
“She’s down so soon? What a bore,” Tina remarked, looking at Dahlia as if she were not finished with her yet. She lifted her foot and wiped the blood from her heels on Dahlia’s clothes. Then, with a casual wave of her hand, she ordered, “Throw her out. I’ll have my fun with her another time.” If it weren’t for her birthday party that night, she would have made sure to continue her torment.
After Dahlia was thrown out, Julie, knowing she was partly to blame, didn’t waste any time. She rushed Dahlia to the hospital.
When they arrived at the emergency ward, the medical staff gasped at Dahlia’s condition. She was a shocking sight, covered in blood. It was clear that this was not an accident but an assault. The big question was: who could be so cruel as to torture a woman like this?
“Where is the patient’s next of kin?” a doctor asked, looking for someone to help.
“Where did the other lady go?” the nurse asked, looking around for Julie.
“Check the patient’s bag for a phone. We need to contact her family right away,” another nurse instructed.
“Okay, I’ll do that,” the first nurse replied.
She searched through Dahlia’s bag and quickly found her phone. Using Dahlia’s fingerprint, she unlocked it.
She dialed the contact labeled “Husband.”
At Peaceful Medical Centre, Dustin’s phone rang. He was busy working on Immortunol when he checked the caller ID and frowned.
“Hello, is anything the matter?” he answered.
“Are you a family member of the owner of this phone? I’m calling from the emergency ward of East Swinton Hospital. You need to come here as soon as possible. The patient’s in bad shape.”
“Is she hurt? What happened?” Dustin’s brow furrowed with worry.
“I’m not sure. Just come quickly,” the nurse said urgently.
Dustin fell silent for a moment. He didn’t hesitate; he rushed to East Swinton Hospital right after hanging up.
When he arrived at the emergency ward, he found Dahlia lying unconscious on a hospital bed. His heart sank at the sight.
Her face was swollen, blood was coming from her mouth, and her forehead showed signs of a severe impact. The worst was her fingers—they were broken and bloody, a sight he could hardly bear.
He could only imagine the pain she had endured before losing consciousness.
“You’re her husband, right? What have you been doing? How could you let your wife suffer like this? It’s very irresponsible!” the head nurse said, feeling sorry for Dahlia.
“How is she?” Dustin asked, his forehead creased with concern.
“The patient is not in critical danger right now, but her condition…”
The head nurse warned Dustin, “Her wounds will take a long time to heal. Her hands have many broken bones. They might never fully recover.”
Dustin’s face was cold and emotionless as he asked, “Who did this?”
The nurse frowned. “How should I know? You’re her husband, and you don’t even know who hurt her?”
Dustin stayed silent, suddenly turning his attention to the door.
He noticed someone trying to peek in. He rushed over and grabbed the person.
“Hey, Rhys! Let go of me!” Julie exclaimed, surprised.
“Who did this to Dahlia?” Dustin demanded, his voice full of anger.
“I—I don’t know!” Julie stammered.
In an instant, Dustin lifted her off the ground, gripping her throat.
She struggled to breathe, panic rising within her.
“I’ll ask you again. Who did it?” Dustin’s eyes were fierce, radiating a chilling hostility. The entire ward felt cold.
“It—it was Tina Hummer, Edwin Hummer’s daughter,” Julie finally confessed, trembling at the fear she saw in Dustin.
She had never witnessed such a terrifying side of him. His gaze felt like ice, sending shivers down her spine.
“Watch over her,” he said before walking away without another word, anger burning inside him.
