An Understated Dominance - Chapter 142
“Let me go…” Dracor struggled, his face turning red as he fought for breath. He was shocked and scared by what was happening.
He thought he was a big deal in Swinton, but now he found himself up against a powerful martial artist.
A martial artist at such a high level, and in his twenties? That was unheard of in all of South City. How could someone so strong be in Swinton?
“This guy is amazing! Even our guild master lost to him!” the members of the White Dragon guild whispered in disbelief.
After seeing their leader defeated, some of them quickly slipped away.
“Dracor, it seems your followers aren’t as loyal as you believed,” Dustin said with a smirk.
“Who are you?” Dracor gritted his teeth, feeling the pressure building in his veins.
He was too exhausted to fight back.
“That’s not important right now. Go and tell Edwin to bring his daughter and apologize to me. If he doesn’t, I’ll pay him a personal visit!” Dustin ordered.
Then, he punched Dracor in the stomach. Dracor coughed up blood as his strength vanished.
“How did you drain my energy?” Dracor asked, his eyes wide with fear.
“Because you’ve lost fair and square!” Dustin replied, tossing him into the air carelessly.
“Guild master!” The remaining disciples rushed to help Dracor up.
Though they were angry, they stayed back from Dustin.
“Today, I admit my defeat. Let’s go, boys!” Dracor said, wiping the blood from his face as he and his group left, defeated.
“Mr. Rhys—did you really defeat Dracor Milfroy?” Stephan asked, his eyes filled with shock.
Dustin smiled confidently. “I told you, he’s no match for me.”
He handed a gemiphen pill to Stephan. “Mr. Chapman, take this healing pill and get some rest. You’ll recover from your injuries and feel good as new by tomorrow.”
“Thank you, Mr. Rhys!” Stephan said, quickly swallowing the pill.
After a few minutes, he felt a warm sensation spreading from his stomach. The energy from the pill worked to heal his wounds from the inside out. His internal bleeding stopped, and the soreness in his limbs slowly faded away.
“Wow, this pill is amazing!” Stephan exclaimed, surprised by how quickly he was healing.
“Mr. Chapman, I apologize for any trouble. You should go home and rest now,” Dustin said with a smile.
“Yes, sir!” Stephan nodded and headed home. With Dustin’s incredible powers, he knew he didn’t need any more help.
That night passed quickly.
The next morning, in a VIP room at East Swinton Hospital, James rushed in, sweating heavily.
“Mother, bad news! Something terrible has happened!” he exclaimed.
“What’s wrong? Why are you so out of breath?” Florence asked, startled by his sudden entrance.
Some other family members in the room looked annoyed by the disruption.
“It’s true!” James gasped for air. “I just learned that the Hummers are planning to boycott us, the Nicholson family! Half of the businesses in Swinton have blacklisted us and won’t work with our company!”
“What? Boycott us? James, are you joking?” Florence was shocked and couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
“Why would I joke about this?” James replied, his expression serious.
“Quine Group’s stock prices have been dropping fast since this morning. If this keeps up, we’ll be bankrupt in three days!”
When James said this, the room erupted in chaos.
“How could this happen? Why would Mr. Hummer boycott us?”
“Exactly! We’ve done nothing against the Hummers. There’s no reason for him to act this way!”
Everyone was confused and worried about the situation.
Edwin Hummer was one of the Mighty Three! He had the power and connections to easily destroy the Nicholson family!
“James! Tell me what happened! Did we do something to upset Mr. Hummer?” Florence asked, her forehead glistening with sweat.
“It’s not us. It’s Dustin who offended him! I heard Dustin went to the Hummers’ party last night and hurt Ms. Hummer. The Hummers are boycotting us for revenge!”
“Not again! That idiot! Why do we have to deal with his mess? Now the Nicholson family will pay for his actions! Is there any justice left?” Florence fumed.
“Why would the Hummer family go after us? We’ve cut ties with Dustin. This isn’t fair!”
“That’s right! The Nicholson family has nothing to do with Dustin anymore. He should face the consequences for what he did!”
“There’s no point in complaining. We need to think of a way to calm Mr. Hummer down!”
The noise grew again as everyone began talking at once, but no one had any real solutions to the problem.
Dahlia, the family’s stronghold, was still unconscious. Given their current status, none of them could approach Mr. Hummer.
“Is something wrong?” Just then, Matt walked into the hospital room.
“Matt! Thank goodness you’re here! We need your help—the Nicholson family is in crisis!”
Florence rushed over to Matt, her last hope. The others looked at him with hopeful expressions, nodding in agreement.
“Mrs. Nicholson, I will do my best to help. But you need to tell me what’s going on,” Matt said kindly.
“It’s all Dustin’s fault! Here’s what happened,” Florence said, and she quickly explained everything.
“I understand,” Matt said, nodding thoughtfully. “Are you asking me to meet with Edwin and plead for the Hummers’ mercy?”
“Yes, exactly! Don’t you know Mr. Hummer? If you stand with us, I’m sure he will listen!” Florence urged.
“Mrs. Nicholson, I want to help, but Ms. Hummer is still unconscious after being hurt badly. If I go to Mr. Hummer now, I’m worried he might take his anger out on me,” Matt replied awkwardly.
“Matt! If you can help us through this, you would be our family’s hero! And don’t you like Dahlia? As soon as she wakes up, you two could get married!” Florence encouraged him.
“That doesn’t sound right. I don’t want to take advantage of this situation. Let’s think about this again after Dahlia wakes up,” Matt suggested.
“What’s the problem? You both like each other! It’s only a matter of time before you get engaged. Once we get through this crisis, you should get married!” Florence insisted with determination.
“Well, I’ll do my best,” Matt said, though he looked torn. Inside, however, he felt a rush of happiness.
