An Understated Dominance - Chapter 143
In the office of Hummers Hospital, Edwin sat in a chair with his eyes closed, taking a brief rest. Suddenly, he heard a knock on the door.
“Come in,” he said, opening his eyes. Fletcher entered with a serious look on his face. “What’s wrong?” Edwin asked, feeling a sense of worry.
“Sir Hummer, we got news last night that Dracor was badly injured,” Fletcher reported.
“What? Dracor was beaten up? Who did this?” Edwin’s expression changed to one of concern.
“It was Dustin!” Fletcher replied.
“Dustin again? How does that punk have such power?” Edwin frowned, frustrated.
Dracor was his right-hand man and the best martial artist in Swinton. No one could stand against him. Just hearing Dracor’s name made enemies tremble. Usually, he could handle any tough situation Edwin set before him. How could such a skilled fighter fall to Dustin?
It didn’t make sense!
“Sir Hummer, Dustin told Dracor to send you a message,” Fletcher said carefully.
“What is it?” Edwin asked.
“Dustin said that Ms. Hummer needs to apologize to him in person. If not, he’ll come to see you!” Fletcher explained.
“That punk has the nerve to threaten me? He must want trouble!” Edwin slammed his fist on the table in anger.
Dustin was the one who had hurt Tina. Now he wanted the Hummers to apologize? This was too much!
“Sir Hummer, please calm down. Dustin is much stronger than us. It’s better not to confront him directly,” Fletcher advised.
“Should we just let him walk all over us?” Edwin demanded.
“Of course not!” Fletcher shook his head. “Even though Dustin is tough, he is just one person. We can use our connections to drive him out of Swinton.”
“Go on,” Edwin urged Fletcher to continue.
The medicine made by our company is very popular, especially with the Harmon family. We can use this to negotiate and get their help. With their support, we can take Dustin on!”
Fletcher grinned.
“That makes sense. If Natasha agrees to abandon him, dealing with Dustin will be easy!” Edwin smiled back.
“Exactly! Plus, we still control the Eternumax prescription. Once we deal with that troublemaker, we can also turn against the Harmon family,” Fletcher said, laughing with delight.
“Good plan. I’ll call Natasha right now!” Edwin quickly grabbed his phone and dialed her number.
“Hello, is this Ms. Harmon? I’m calling about a business deal,” he said.
“Yes, yes! This is about the Eternumax!” she replied eagerly.
“If we can reach an agreement, it would greatly improve our wealth and reputation!” Edwin continued.
“My condition is simple: if you turn your back on Dustin, we can be loyal business partners!”
As the conversation went on, Edwin’s face fell.
When he hung up, he looked furious.
“Sir Hummer, what did Natasha say?” Fletcher asked, clearly curious.
“She told me to get lost!” Edwin snapped back.
“What?” Fletcher was stunned by her response.
“This woman must be in love with that punk! How could she pass up such a great deal for a man?” Edwin fumed.
“Women can be emotional. She’ll regret it once Eternumax becomes a huge success!” Fletcher added.
Edwin didn’t respond; his mind was racing with worries.
Things had not been going well for him lately.
“Sir Hummer, terrible news!” Just then, a doctor burst into the room.
the doctor, “Ms. Hummer’s condition has suddenly worsened!”
“What do you mean? Is she in danger? How could this happen? Wasn’t she fine yesterday?” Edwin jumped up from his chair, grabbing the doctor by the collar in a panic.
“Ms. Hummer has a strange condition that can’t be treated with medicine. You’ll understand once you see for yourself,” the doctor replied nervously.
“Show me!” Edwin growled.
He followed the doctor to the intensive care unit. Tina lay in the hospital bed, her face twisted in pain, looking very weak.
“Tina, how are you feeling?” Edwin knelt beside her bed, worry etched on his face.
“Dad—I don’t feel so good. It hurts,” Tina whispered weakly, as if her life hung by a thread.
“What happened? Why has my daughter gotten so bad?” Edwin glared at the doctor.
“Sir Hummer, we’ve treated Ms. Hummer’s fractures. Those should heal in a few days. But she has other injuries we can’t fix.”
“What other injuries?” Edwin asked, furrowing his brow.
“Please take a look,” the doctor said, pulling back the blankets from Tina’s body.
On her abdomen, there were several purple bruises, as if she had been struck by something heavy. The bruises were about three inches long and slightly sunken.
“Isn’t that just a bruise? What’s the big deal?” Edwin asked, confused.
“Sir Hummer, this isn’t a normal bruise. It’s a sign of a rare curse. The person who placed the curse has blocked Ms. Hummer’s blood circulation. If this continues, her organs could start to fail.”
“My experience tells me that Ms. Hummer’s life is in serious danger,” the doctor said with a serious expression.
“What?! How can that be? Is there no cure?” Edwin was shocked by the surprising news.
“Unless the person who put the curse on her lifts it, there’s no cure,” the doctor replied, sighing and shaking his head.
