An Understated Dominance - Chapter 146
“Huh?!” James’s mouth dropped open as he watched the Hummer family representatives kneel before him. Everyone around him looked shocked, their eyes wide with disbelief.
Who would have imagined that the powerful Hummer family would ever show such humility? Was something wrong with them? Were they sick?
“What’s happening? Didn’t the Hummers come to fight back? Why are they kneeling?” someone whispered.
“Is this some kind of trick?” another added, confused.
“Something feels off. This must be part of their plan!” a third person said, suspicion growing.
As the Nicholsons stared at the kneeling Hummers, fear began to creep in. Instead of feeling happy, they were terrified. Some of them felt their legs weaken under the pressure of the shocking sight.
Could it be true that a powerful family would kneel to them? They had never even dreamed of such a thing.
“Forgive me, Ms. Nicholson. The Hummers were at fault last night. We are here today for our young lady to apologize sincerely to you in person. Please forgive us, Ms. Nicholson.” Fletcher, taking the lead, spoke earnestly before he knelt down.
“Our sincere apologies, Ms. Nicholson!” the other Hummer representatives echoed, kneeling in unison without caring about their reputation.
The Nicholsons were once again left speechless. It was true! The Hummers were apologizing to them!
But why?
“W-why are you all kneeling? What is going on, Mr. Lawson?” Dahlia stammered from her hospital bed. She was
Feeling anxious about the situation, she quickly got out of bed. Weren’t they here for revenge? Why were they kneeling in front of her?
“The Hummers aren’t unreasonable. We admit when we’re wrong, and we hope you can forgive us for our mistakes, Ms. Nicholson,” Fletcher said, keeping his head down.
“What are you talking about, Mr. Lawson? Please get up! I think there’s been a misunderstanding. We’d be happy if this matter was dropped completely. Why would we accuse the Hummer family of anything?” Florence said, smiling widely as she regained her composure.
“Yes, she’s right! Please stand up, Mr. Lawson!” The Nicholsons were still in shock.

For them, it was a relief that the Hummers were willing to let the issue go. They wouldn’t dare force them to apologize.
“As long as you refuse to accept our apology, we’ll keep kneeling like this forever, Ms. Nicholson,” Fletcher insisted stubbornly.
“Please get off the floor, Mr. Lawson. Let’s just pretend this never happened, okay?” Dahlia said, struggling to find the right words.
Even though Tina was responsible, she ended up with more serious injuries than Dahlia. While Dahlia was expected to recover in three to five days, she worried that Tina wouldn’t be able to leave her bed for at least a month.
This was why she was so surprised when she heard that Tina, a member of the usually stubborn Hummer family, was going to apologize to her.
“Thank you, Ms. Nicholson, for being so kind to us!” Fletcher said, his face brightening with joy. He bowed to her and then gestured for the representatives to stand.
to get yourself in trouble?”
Florence was relieved, thinking that everything had been sorted out. “This is great! It was just a misunderstanding. We should be okay now,” she said with a long sigh of relief. Despite not knowing all the details, it was clear they had gotten through a tough situation without any harm.
James smiled, even though he was sweating. “That’s right! Peace and harmony bring good fortune!”
Just when everyone thought they were safe, Dustin interrupted. “Hold on. Tina beat up Dahlia, so she should apologize too.”
This statement caused an uproar among the crowd. Some members of the Hummer family exchanged worried glances, while the Nicholsons stood frozen in shock.
Was this guy out of his mind? The Hummers had already decided to let the matter go, so why was he insisting on stirring things up again?
Florence snapped back to reality and shouted at Dustin, “Have you lost your mind? If you don’t know what to say, just be quiet!”
James joined in, angry. “What’s wrong with you? The Hummers are being generous, and you still want to make things worse!”
Tension filled the air as everyone waited to see how this would unfold.
Dustin was seen as a crazy person who talked nonsense. The two groups had already made peace with each other, so why stir up trouble again? What if this upset the Hummer family? Who would take the blame then?
“Is it wrong to ask for an apology from someone who hurt you? Am I wrong?” Dustin asked calmly.
“Shut up, Rhys! You’re a pain. You’re going to get us killed!” Florence yelled as she stood up in anger.
“Dustin! Please stop this!” Dahlia begged, feeling a chill run down her spine. She didn’t expect him to say such outrageous things given their situation.
“Fine. I’ll be quiet. I’ll let you all handle it,” Dustin said, moving to a corner to sit by himself.
“I think he’s lost his mind, Ms. Hummer. You shouldn’t pay him any attention,” Florence quickly said, worried about offending the Hummer family.
“Yes! He’s a psycho. He doesn’t deal with the Nicholsons anymore,” James added, forcing a smile to appear humble.
But instead of feeling relieved, the Hummer family representatives looked even more upset.
After Fletcher whispered something to Tina, who was nearly immobilized in her wheelchair, she took a deep breath and managed to speak, “I’m sorry… it was all my fault.”
The room fell silent as soon as she finished. Florence and the others were stunned, their faces showing pure shock. Did the spoiled young lady just take the blame?
Did the Lady of the Hummers, the one who made all the decisions in Swinton, really just apologize?
