An Understated Dominance - Chapter 150
After stumbling back to her room, Dahlia felt empty, as if her spirit had left her. Her face was expressionless, and her eyes were lifeless. She didn’t even notice that her bandaged hand was still bleeding.
Dustin’s disappointed look before he left haunted her like a painful reminder. She realized that they had grown apart over time. In the past, she had focused solely on her career, determined to make her mark. She had ignored many important things in her life, including her relationship with Dustin.
Since their divorce, she began to see things differently. She understood that some things were more important than a job, but sadly, she only figured this out too late.
“Honey, I just heard—” Florence said as she rushed into the room right after Dahlia walked in.
“I just heard it was that Rhys kid who hurt Ms. Hummer and used her to get the Hummer family to apologize to us. He was just playing dirty the whole time!”
“That’s right! This Dustin guy did such terrible things just to boost his name, without caring about how it looked!” James added.
At first, they were shocked to learn that Dustin had been helping them from behind the scenes. But as they dug deeper, they realized it wasn’t that the Hummers were afraid of him; it was that Dustin had used underhanded tactics to force them into apologizing.
So even though he seemed powerful, he had really just trapped them into a corner.
“Mom, can you all just leave, please? I need to be alone right now,” Dahlia said flatly. She didn’t want to talk.
“Even if we’ve misunderstood Dustin, it doesn’t matter. He is still at fault here. He was just trying to fix his mistakes. We don’t owe him anything!” Florence insisted.
“I’m tired, Mom. I just want to rest. Please go outside,” Dahlia asked again.
“But honey…” Florence complained.
“Just leave me alone!” Dahlia shouted firmly.
Seeing the look on Dahlia’s face, Florence decided to say nothing more and began to lead everyone out of the room.
“Who would have thought that Dustin would be the main problem, while Mr. Laney surprised us the most?” Florence continued to think. *How foolish of us to let him intimidate us. At least we didn’t bother him for anything!*
“And Matt… I think he is so in love with Dahlia that he’s willing to use tricks and lies to win her over,” Florence explained. “If you ask me, a man who risks everything for love is truly worth committing to for life! You all should learn from him!”
After discussing Matt, their opinions shifted from criticizing him to praising him instead. Surprisingly, many seemed to agree.
Meanwhile, in the ward, Dahlia sat quietly on her bed, staring blankly. She lost track of time as tears began to fall down her cheeks, and soon her shoulders started to shake.
Finally, unable to hold back her feelings any longer, she buried her head in her knees and broke down in tears.
She never cried when the company was in trouble. She didn’t shed tears when someone humiliated her or even when she was beaten or tortured in various ways. But now, for the first time, she cried deeply and heartbreakingly.
At Hummer Villa, Tina sat in her wheelchair, feeling a mix of resignation and anger.
“Dad! The Hummers have never faced such humiliation! You have to avenge me!” she demanded, her teeth clenched.
“Of course, we will take revenge, but we can’t underestimate this guy. We need to be fully prepared in case he causes trouble again,” Edwin replied seriously. He was determined to not let anyone who dared to hurt the Hummers get away easily.
“Isn’t Mr. Lawson skilled in mystic arts? Why not have him use his most powerful magic on Dustin? That way, he’ll be tortured half to death!” Tina suggested, filled with resentment.
“It won’t work. He’s not only a strong martial artist, but he also knows a lot about poison. He even broke the venomous mystic arts I used on the Harmons, so I can’t do anything to him right now,” Fletcher said from the corner.
“Then what can we do? If we don’t tear him apart, I don’t think I’ll ever feel better about this!” Tina shouted, her eyes fierce.
“There’s no need to rush. Just hold on for a few more days. I’ve already told your brother about this. Once he clears customs in a few days, he’ll come back to Swinton, and he will get your revenge. By then, I doubt the guy will be able to make any trouble, no matter how strong he is,” Edwin said, narrowing his eyes.
What Edwin was most proud of in his life wasn’t just being the richest man in Swinton, but…
He was the father of a remarkable young man named Joshua Hummer. Joshua grew up practicing martial arts and became so skilled that by the age of 15, he had defeated all his opponents in Swinton. When he turned 18, he joined Boulderthorn and trained under Clement Lincoln. Now, at 25, he had risen to the top ranks and was recognized as one of the best young martial arts masters in the province. Many believed he would soon surpass Tyler, who was known as a natural talent.
Meanwhile, Tina had her own plans. “Perfect! I’ll let Dustin live for a few more days. Once my brother returns, I’ll make him beg for his life!” she laughed with excitement. To Tina, her brother was like a god who could handle anything effortlessly. Dealing with a martial artist, she thought, would be a piece of cake.
“Sir Hummer, since Joshua is coming back, we shouldn’t worry about Dustin anymore. I suggest we focus on the Harmon family instead! The production of Eternumax is speeding up, so it’s the perfect time to launch our attack,” Mr. Lawson advised.
“Great idea! Let’s schedule a press conference in three days to announce our new pill. With Natasha’s help, I’ll make sure she pays for this!” Edwin declared, clenching his fist so tightly that his knuckles crackled. To him, Dustin was just a minor obstacle, but Natasha was a real problem. He needed to get rid of both of them as soon as possible!
