An Understated Dominance - Chapter 151
Back at the Peaceful Medical Center, Dustin was drinking glass after glass of wine, trying to escape his feelings. Although he didn’t show it on the outside, he was frustrated. Maybe it was time to move on from his past relationship.
Suddenly, there was a hurried knock at the door. Dustin opened it to find two young women standing there.
One woman wore all white and looked like an angel. She gave off a pure and innocent vibe. The other woman was dressed in a tight black bodysuit that highlighted her strong features. However, she was bleeding heavily from a wound on her abdomen and looked pale from losing so much blood.
“Excuse me, is the doctor in? My friend is badly hurt and needs help right away!” the woman in white said, clearly distressed.
“I am the doctor. Please come in,” Dustin replied, letting them inside.
“Thank you so much! Claudia, let’s go in,” the woman said, turning to her friend in black.
“Wait a minute! Sheila, I can smell alcohol on him. He must be drunk. I don’t trust this guy!” Claudia Doyle frowned, clearly uneasy.
“But you’ve lost so much blood! If you don’t get treatment soon, you could die!” Sheila Murray said, worry etched on her face.
“It’s fine. I can wait a bit longer for help. I’m not letting a drunk take care of me!” Claudia insisted, her determination clear.
Her injury was serious. Even skilled doctors would struggle with it, and she didn’t want to rely on someone who seemed intoxicated.
“Sorry to interrupt,” Dustin said, “but will the support you mentioned arrive soon?”
Dustin asked casually, “You think you can last 30 minutes?”
“It’s none of your business!” Claudia shot back.
“Okay, just so you know, with all the blood you’ve lost, you’ll be dead in 30 minutes,” Dustin said, glancing at her and making a quick assessment.
“That’s ridiculous! Do you think I’ll be scared by your threats? I know people like you!” Claudia hissed.
“Believe what you want. But if you’re going to die, don’t do it at my doorstep. I don’t want to clean up after you,” Dustin said, waving them away.
“You-!” Claudia suddenly jerked, coughing up blood.
“Suit yourself,” Dustin said, deciding to close the door.
“Wait! Please wait! Sir, I apologize for Claudia’s rudeness. Don’t hold it against her. You seem like a good person. Please help her! We will repay your kindness!” Sheila pleaded, stopping Dustin from shutting the door.
“Why are you begging him, Sheila? Even if I die, I won’t let him treat me!” Claudia insisted stubbornly.
“Look, it’s not that I don’t want to help her. She’s the one refusing treatment. If she survives this, you really should get her head checked. Maybe that’s why she’s acting so foolishly,” Dustin replied, shaking his head.
“You jerk!” Claudia seethed, trying to stand up to confront him. But just then, she lost consciousness and collapsed on the ground.
She might have fainted more from Dustin’s words than from her injuries.
“Claudia!” Sheila exclaimed, frantically trying to pull her friend up from the floor, but…
Sheila felt weak and desperate. She turned to Dustin, tears streaming down her face. “Please help Claudia! I’m begging you! I’ll pay you back. Just save her, and I’ll give you anything you ask for!”
Dustin couldn’t resist a woman in tears. He sighed and nodded. “Okay, I’ll help her this time because you’re sincere.”
He grabbed Claudia by her collar and lifted her, tossing her onto the bed. Sheila thought he might be taking revenge on Claudia for how she had acted earlier.
“Miss, take off her clothes. I need to stop the bleeding,” Dustin instructed.
Sheila nodded quickly. “Alright!”
In a few minutes, she had removed Claudia’s clothes completely. When Dustin turned around, he was shocked.
“Miss, I didn’t mean for you to take off everything! At least leave her underwear and bra on!”
“Huh?” Sheila’s face turned bright red as she hurriedly put Claudia’s underwear back on. She had been too nervous and misunderstood Dustin’s instructions. Luckily, Claudia was unconscious, or it would have been very awkward.
Dustin let out a sigh of relief. Even though he had briefly seen Claudia’s figure, he could tell she had a curvy body.
The wound on Claudia’s abdomen wasn’t too serious. Dustin expertly stitched it up and dressed the wound to stop further bleeding.
For her internal injuries, she would need medication.
“Alright, she’s out of danger now. I’ll write her a prescription, and she’ll be fine in a few days,” Dustin said, quickly writing down what Claudia needed.
“Thank you so much!” Sheila said, grateful.
As Dustin handed the prescription to Sheila, he accidentally…
He touched her hand gently.
He raised his eyebrows. “Miss, your condition seems worse than your friend’s!”
*I’m fine, it’s just a chronic illness,* Sheila replied with a wry smile. Ever since she was young, she had struggled with being cold. She was used to taking several medications every day for her illness.
“You—” Dustin started to ask more questions, but Sheila’s attention shifted when Claudia began to wake up.
“Claudia, are you awake? How do you feel?” Sheila asked, happy to see her friend recovering.
“Sheila? Where am I?” Claudia looked around, confused.
“This man saved you. He’s a skilled doctor. With just a few stitches, he stopped your bleeding!” Sheila exclaimed.
“No one asked for his help!” Claudia glanced at her bandages and muttered under her breath.
“Claudia! He helped you out of kindness. How can you be so rude?” Sheila said, feeling annoyed.
“Sheila, you’re too trusting. You never know what someone is really like. Maybe he had another reason for helping me!” Claudia replied skeptically.
“You’re wrong. I think he is a good person!” Sheila insisted.
“Miss, your words are like music to my ears. Unlike some people, who don’t know how to show gratitude,” Dustin added sarcastically.
Claudia opened her mouth to respond, but a loud noise outside interrupted them. They heard heavy footsteps and rough voices coming from beyond the door.
“Boss, their tracks end right here. They must be hiding inside!”
“I’ll teach them to run from me! Boys! Surround the medical center. Don’t let anyone escape!”
With that, the doors of the center burst open violently.
