An Understated Dominance - Chapter 152
A loud crash echoed as the doors to the center flew open. Seven masked assassins rushed in without hesitation.
“Shit! They caught up to us!” Claudia cursed. Their team of bodyguards had been ambushed and taken out.
Only Claudia and Sheila managed to escape the chaos. Claudia thought they had lost their pursuers, but the assassins were relentless.
“Sheila, I’ll hold them back. You need to get out through the back door!” Claudia whispered urgently.
“If I escape, they will kill you. I’m the target, so they won’t hurt me. I’ll let them take me hostage,” Sheila said, her face pale with fear.
“Sheila! As your personal bodyguard, my job is to keep you safe. You have to listen to me!” Claudia insisted, standing protectively in front of her.
“Enough arguing. We will take both of you!” a bald man sneered as he stepped inside.
Unlike the other assassins, this man wasn’t wearing a mask and gave off a menacing vibe.
“Thor Garcia?” Claudia’s eyes narrowed in recognition.
Thor Garcia was one of the Four Scoundrels, known for their illegal raids and hitman services. They were skilled martial artists and dangerous criminals. Just hearing their names filled people with fear.
“Oh, how nice for Ms. Doyle to recognize me!” the bald man mocked, a grin on his face.
“Thor Garcia! I’ll pay you double whatever you were offered if you let us go!” Claudia proposed.
“Ms. Doyle, I may love money, but I’m more interested in what you’re worth. If I capture both of you, the money will come easily!” Thor laughed.
“There will be serious consequences if you harm us!” Claudia warned him again.
“Don’t worry, I’m not going to—”
you harm her, it could ruin his plans. He hesitated, unsure of what to do.
“Just give me a moment,” Thor said, trying to regain control of the situation.
Claudia, still recovering from the blow, struggled to her feet. “Sheila, don’t! You don’t have to do this!”
But Sheila stood firm, her eyes locked on Thor. “Let Claudia and that man go, or I will end this right now!”
Thor’s expression shifted. He had not expected such bravery from Sheila. “You’re making a mistake, Ms. Murray. You can’t just throw your life away like this.”
“I’d rather die than watch you hurt my friend,” Sheila replied fiercely, her grip on the knife tightening.
Claudia took a step forward, her voice shaky but strong. “Sheila, please! We can find another way!”
Thor, sensing the tension, decided to play his hand. “Alright, let’s negotiate. You want to protect your friend, but what about your own life? If you come with me willingly, I can guarantee your safety and Claudia’s.”
Sheila hesitated, weighing her options. “You promise?”
“I promise,” Thor said, trying to sound sincere.
Claudia shook her head. “Don’t trust him, Sheila! He’s lying!”
But Sheila was torn. She wanted to protect Claudia, but the thought of putting her own life on the line was terrifying.
“Make your choice, Ms. Murray,” Thor urged, a smirk creeping back onto his face.
After a tense moment, Sheila took a deep breath. “Fine! I’ll go with you. Just let Claudia and that man go.”
Thor nodded, satisfied. “Deal. Let them go.”
The assassins stepped back, allowing Claudia and the man to escape.
“Don’t worry, I’ll find a way to get you back!” Claudia shouted as they were led away.
Sheila nodded, determined to stay strong for her friend.
Sheila was tense, holding a knife to her own neck. “I’ll ask again. Will you let them go?” She pressed the blade harder, and a drop of blood trickled down her skin.
“Okay, okay! I’ll do it! Just let them go quietly with us!” Thor replied quickly, nodding his head.
“Stop, Sheila! What are you doing?” Claudia yelled, trying to get to her feet, but her injuries held her back.
“Claudia, this is the best option right now. You have to stay alive. They won’t hurt me,” Sheila said, forcing a smile. She understood their intentions and felt a little safer for the moment.
“Ms. Murray, we’re running out of time. Let’s go!” Thor urged, pointing towards the exit.
With the knife still against her neck, Sheila walked forward in silence. The assassins stood in two rows, glaring at her.
“Hold it right there! Are you really just going to walk out like that?” Dustin finally spoke up after staying quiet for so long.
“What? You want to play the hero now?” Thor snarled, ready to lash out at anyone who dared to challenge him.
“You broke down my doors, wrecked my furniture, and you think you can just leave without paying up? How shameless!” Dustin said casually.
Everyone was taken aback. No one expected him to ask for money at a time like this.
“Are you serious? How dare you ask for compensation? Do you know who I am?” Thor laughed mockingly.
“I don’t care who you are. Even if the emperor himself comes, no one leaves without paying!” Dustin insisted.
Thor and his crew exchanged worried glances.
The men laughed loudly at Dustin, thinking he had lost his mind.
“Stop talking! You can’t stand up to these guys!” Sheila pointed at Dustin.
“Do you want to get killed? These men will take you out without a second thought. How can you even ask them for money?” Claudia said, frowning.
Did Dustin really not see how dangerous this was?
“Murder? Shouldn’t they pay for the damage they caused?” Dustin replied.
“You-!” Claudia almost choked on her drink.
What was he talking about? She had just warned him that Thor was a ruthless killer.
How could he be so determined to get money?
Was it really worth risking his life over a few dollars?
