An Understated Dominance - Chapter 157
Claudia wasn’t the only one surprised by the situation; Lily was shocked too. If she had known who Dustin really was, she would never have let Caden send him away so easily. After all, he had helped her daughter!
“Thank goodness nothing serious happened. If we had thrown the pill away, Sheila could have been in real danger!” Lily said, shivering at the thought.
She felt lucky to still have the pill; otherwise, the outcome could have been terrible.
“Sheila is safe for now, but we still need to deal with the coldness inside her,” Lily added.
After checking on Sheila, Caden instructed, “Claudia, go to the medical center and bring Dustin here.”
“But Uncle Caden, do you really think this guy can help Sheila?” Claudia asked, clearly doubtful. She didn’t trust Dustin.
“I just want to see what he suggests for treatment,” Caden replied. He didn’t really believe a young man in his twenties could have impressive medical skills.
However, the pill Dustin gave them had shown amazing effects, so Caden was curious about where it came from.
“Claudia, you need to listen to your Uncle Caden. Sheila’s health is our top priority. We should bring Dustin here to see what he knows,” Lily urged.
“Okay,” Claudia said reluctantly, agreeing to do it.
Meanwhile, at Peaceful Medical Center, Dustin returned and made a pot of tea. He poured a cup for himself and another for Hunter, who accepted it gratefully.
Dustin and Hunter had known each other for years but had never shared a cup of tea before.
“Mr. Rhys, didn’t you say you needed the Gozoraberry? Have you given up on that?” Hunter asked, curious.
Dustin was very laid back.
“Of course not! I’m just waiting for the right opportunity,” he said, sipping his tea.
“The right opportunity?” Hunter was confused by what Dustin meant.
“From what I saw yesterday, Sheila will have another round of attacks soon. This time, it will be worse than before. No one in Swinton will be able to help her,” Dustin said calmly.
“So that’s why you left them with the pill? You want them to come to you on their own?” Hunter quickly figured it out.
“Exactly. Actions speak louder than words. It’s better to show them with actions than to convince them with talk,” Dustin nodded.
“But what if Caden doesn’t take you seriously and just throws the pill away?” Hunter wondered aloud.
“Then he would be sending his daughter to her grave with his own hands,” Dustin shook his head. If Caden acted so rashly, he would have no one to blame but himself.
Just then, a black Hummer pulled up at the entrance, and Claudia walked in confidently.
“Come with me, Dustin!” she commanded.
“Follow you? Where to?” Dustin continued to sip his tea as if nothing was happening.
“Don’t play dumb with me! We’re going to Fallridge Haven!” Claudia frowned.
“Why would we go there? We’re not welcome. We were kicked out not long ago! I don’t want to go back and cause trouble,” Dustin replied, shaking his head.
“You!” Claudia gritted her teeth, wishing she could hit him right then.
“That was a misunderstanding. We won’t kick you out again,” she tried to calm herself.
“Even if you won’t, we’re still not going. Do you think we’ll just come and go as you please?” Dustin took another sip of his tea.
“What do you want?” Claudia asked, feeling so angry that she wanted to hit someone.
“I’ll go, but I have one condition,” Dustin replied.
“What is it?” she asked.
“It’s simple. I want the Gozoraberry.”
“The Gozoraberry? That’s for Sheila. I can’t promise you that,” Claudia said, glaring at him.
“If you won’t agree, then we have no deal,” Dustin said calmly. “The Gozoraberry won’t cure Sheila’s disease. If you can’t make the decision, get someone who can.”
“Hmph!” Claudia huffed in frustration. She pulled out her phone and called Caden to tell him about Dustin’s condition.
After a while, Claudia looked at Dustin and nodded. “Uncle Caden has agreed to your condition. If you can cure Sheila, then the Gozoraberry is yours,” she said coldly.
“Deal!” Dustin replied with a smile.
He climbed into Claudia’s car, and they drove to Fallridge Haven, leaving Hunter amazed and impressed.
“Just like Mr. Rhys!” Hunter thought to himself. “He controls every situation!”
When Dustin arrived back at Fallridge Haven, he saw a group of doctors gathered around. They were mostly high-ranking people in Swinton’s medical field.
“Welcome back, young man! Please, come in!” Lily greeted him cheerfully as he stepped inside. It took him a moment to shake off his unease.
“You said you could cure my daughter. Is that true?” Caden asked seriously, looking stern.
“Of course,” Dustin replied confidently. “I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t believe I could help her. I just hope you stick to your promise, Mr. Murray.” Dustin gave a small smile.
“I will. But you better keep your end of the deal,” Caden warned.
Dustin replied coldly, “We’ll see in a bit.” He didn’t explain further. Quickly, he moved to the emerald bed where Sheila lay and checked her pulse.
As he suspected, Sheila had Polarfrost, a rare disease that appeared only once every hundred years. Those with this condition could reach incredible heights if they learned a special form of martial arts, which would boost their abilities. Unfortunately, people with Polarfrost often had very short lives. The Polarfrost within them acted like a powerful vortex, absorbing the cold from the universe until their bodies couldn’t handle it anymore. Most newborns with this condition didn’t survive past their first year.
Fortunately, Sheila came from a wealthy family, the Murrays, so she had received the best medications and herbs, allowing her to live this long. But now, the coldness she had absorbed over the years had become overwhelming, and the treatments that once helped her were no longer working.
“How is it? Can you cure her?” Caden asked, doubtfully.
“It’s tricky, but I can do it,” Dustin replied confidently.
“Okay, go ahead. But if anything happens to my daughter, you’ll pay for it!” Caden warned.
“Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing,” Dustin assured him. Just as he pulled out a needle to begin, a loud roar sounded from the door.
“Hold it!”
