An Understated Dominance - Chapter 167
Two days later, the Hummers held a press conference to launch Eternumax at the Hillview Hotel. News about the event had been spreading for days, and the Hummers worked hard to promote it. This incredible drug, which promised beauty and longer life, attracted a lot of attention.
The press conference was beautifully decorated and buzzing with activity. Guests kept arriving, filling the venue.
Around noon, a silver Bentley pulled up to the hotel entrance. Natasha stepped out, holding Dustin’s arm.
As always, Natasha drew everyone’s attention. Her stunning figure and captivating face made it hard for anyone to look away.
Dustin was dressed in a sharp three-piece suit and looked handsome and confident.
“Natasha, what are you doing here?” Quentin and Mr. Wangley spotted them and approached.
“If you’re here, then I can be here too,” Natasha replied casually.
“We got an invitation from Sir Hummer. Did you get one?” Quentin asked with a sly smile, knowing Edwin would never invite Natasha.
“I’m not here for Edwin’s press conference, so I don’t need an invitation,” Natasha shrugged.
“If you’re not here for the press conference, then what’s your reason for being here?” Quentin was confused.
“Oh, I forgot to tell you—I’m having my own press conference for a new drug launch today too.”
Natasha surprised Quentin with some big news. “I’m having a press conference too. It’s on the same day and place as Edwin Hummer’s, but mine is on the third floor while his is in Basement Level 3. I’ve made sure to stay away from him.”
“What? You’re having a press conference too?” Quentin was taken aback. He had sent people to watch Natasha for days, and they hadn’t reported anything unusual. So why was she suddenly planning a press conference? And on the same day and location as Edwin’s? It felt like a challenge.
“Natasha Harmon! What are you up to? You don’t have anything to your name. How can you dare to challenge Edwin Hummer?” Quentin’s surprise quickly turned into suspicion.
“This isn’t something you should worry about, Quentin. If you have time to spare, focus more on yourself,” Natasha replied casually.
“What do you mean by that?” Quentin frowned, confused.
“I heard you bought a lot of Eternumax to sell it for a quick profit,” Natasha said.
“So what if I did? You can’t stop me from making money just because you won’t!” Quentin shot back.
“Since we’re family, I suggest you sell those Eternumax at a lower price before the press conference starts. If you don’t, you might lose everything before you even realize it!” Natasha warned with a smile.
“That’s nonsense! Eternumax is selling fast. Many people want it but can’t get it. You’re just jealous!” Quentin scoffed.
“It’s your choice to take my advice or not,” Natasha said, not wanting to argue further. She linked her arm with Dustin’s, and they both walked away.
They entered the hotel, and Quentin watched them leave with a sneer. “Hmph! She really doesn’t know where she stands!” he scoffed. In his eyes, Natasha was just trying to make things more complicated in a last-ditch effort to save herself.
As time passed, more and more elite guests arrived at Hillview Hotel. The press conference for Hummer was lively, filled with important people and buzzing with excitement.
In sharp contrast, the Harmons’ press conference was nearly empty. Only staff and a few bodyguards were there; it felt desolate. But Natasha didn’t seem to mind the lack of attendees. She sat with Dustin, sipping wine and looking relaxed.
Suddenly, Jessica and Ruth rushed in. “Natasha! What are you doing?” Jessica exclaimed.
“Why did you hold a press conference out of the blue without any preparation? Are you joking?” she demanded as soon as she entered.
“I know what I’m doing,” Natasha replied calmly.
“You know what you’re doing? Have you seen the Hummer press conference? It’s packed! And look at yours—there’s hardly anyone here! If this gets out, what will people think of the Harmons?” Jessica said, clearly frustrated.
Not only had the formula for Eternumax been stolen, but Natasha was also openly challenging the Hummers at such a critical time. Shouldn’t she be keeping a low profile instead of inviting embarrassment? It was ridiculous!
“Natasha, I don’t understand. You’ve always been so good at planning and controlling the situation. Why did you make such a foolish decision today?” Ruth asked, confused.
Since they had Immortunol, all…
Natasha knew that all she needed to do was promote the event, and then they would have a chance to compete with the Hummers. So, why did she choose the hardest and least likely option?
“Let’s not get upset. Come sit down and have a drink. You’ll see what I have planned soon enough,” Natasha said confidently.
“I’m curious to see what you’ve got!” Jessica replied, crossing her arms as she took a seat.
At that moment, Jessica just hoped nobody would show up. If no one arrived, then no one could spread the word about the press conference. If news got out, Harmon Pharmaceuticals would become the laughingstock of the industry.
Suddenly, an overweight elderly man walked in with a look of confusion on his face. “Is this the Harmons’ press conference? Where is everyone?”
“Dr. Shane?” Jessica gasped in surprise.
Dr. Shane was a rare sight in public. What was he doing here? He was known to turn down invitations from even the prime minister if he felt like it.
“Dr. Shane, what brings you here?” Jessica quickly stood up to greet him.
But he didn’t even look at her and walked straight past her.
He approached Dustin with a big smile. “Mr. Rhys! You’re here too! That ancient manuscript you gave me was fantastic. There are just a few parts I can’t quite understand. Can you help me with them?”
Jessica was left speechless.
The legendary Dr. Shane was asking a regular guy like Dustin for help? What was going on?
