An Understated Dominance - Chapter 198
An hour later, James rushed into the Nicholson manor. “Mom! I’ve got bad news! Julie’s in big trouble!”
“What kind of trouble?” Florence asked slowly, sipping her tea.
“Matt just called. He said Julie’s been sent to jail!” This news shocked Florence.
“What?!” Florence sat up straight. “How did that happen? Why would Julie suddenly be locked up?”
“Matt said Julie went to the Harmons to buy something called Immortunol. She got into a conflict with Dustin, and now she’s being held for stealing drugs,” James explained.
“Stealing drugs? No! That’s impossible! Julie can be spoiled, but she would never do something like that!” Florence exclaimed. Then she paused as a thought struck her. “Wait, did you say she had a conflict with Dustin? Could he have set her up?”
“Exactly! That’s what Matt thinks too!” James nodded. “Dustin has always held a grudge against us. He must have framed Julie to get back at us!”
“That monster! How can he be so heartless?” Florence slammed her hand on the table, her anger boiling over. “We’ve always treated him kindly, and this is how he repays us? He’s nothing but a traitor!”
“What do we do now, Mom?” James asked, concerned.
“We need to use our connections to bail Julie out!” Florence said, clearly flustered. Julie was her only niece, and she cared for her deeply.
“Mom, it looks like the only person who can help us now is Matt,” James said seriously.
Just then, Matt rushed in, looking out of breath. He had clearly been busy trying to assist Julie.
Florence quickly approached him, desperation in her eyes. “Matt, thank goodness you’re here! Julie has been taken, and you’re the only one who can help her!”
Matt let out a heavy sigh. “Mrs. Nicholson, I’ve been asking around, and it turns out Julie is being accused of being the mastermind behind the theft. The Harmons are not going to let her off easily. Right now, it looks like Julie could face eight to ten years in prison.”
“What?” Florence gasped, nearly losing her balance. “Julie is just a sweet girl who has never faced any real challenges! How could she survive eight to ten years in prison? Please, Matt! You have to do something to save her!”
“Mrs. Nicholson, given how serious this is, I need to ask my father for help,” Matt replied, shaking his head.
“Anything! We will be forever grateful if your father can get Julie out!” Florence said, her eyes filled with hope.
Matt took out his phone and called his father. After a short conversation, he ended the call and looked troubled. “Mrs. Nicholson, my father is willing to help Julie, but he has one condition.”
“What is it?” Florence asked eagerly.
“He wants the prescription formula for Immortunol from Dustin. If you can get that from him, not only will my father help save Julie, but he will also give you thirty thousand dollars as a reward!” Matt explained.
“Thirty thousand dollars? Are you serious?” Florence’s eyes sparkled with excitement.
“Absolutely! My father always keeps his promises,” Matt replied with a nod.
“That’s easy! It’s just a prescription formula, right? I’ll go get it now! That useless man won’t dare say no to me!” Florence was energized. Not only could she help Julie get out of prison, but she could also walk away with a lot of money. What a great deal!
“Okay, I’ll be waiting for your good news, Mrs. Nicholson,” Matt said with a smile.
“James! Gather a few men and come with me!” Florence shouted as she rushed out the door.
