Dustin knew that Caitlyn felt very insecure. If he told her not to do something, it would only make her feel more lost. Just then, his phone rang.

When he answered, a voice he didn’t recognize spoke up. “Hello, is this Mr. Rhys? I’m Aspen Cruiser, the new chief inspector from the investigation bureau.”

“Oh, it’s you, Chief Cruiser. What’s going on?” Dustin asked, surprised.

“We’ve just arrested a suspect named Julie Amberson. Our investigation shows she is your sister-in-law and is involved in the theft of Immortunol. Would you like to take her case?” Aspen asked carefully.

“It’s fine. This has nothing to do with her,” Dustin replied.

While he didn’t have a good relationship with Julie, he wouldn’t misuse his power for personal revenge or send her to jail.

“Okay, I understand. Enjoy your day, Mr. Rhys,” Aspen said before hanging up.

Dustin said nothing as he put down the phone. He then took out an old book and began flipping through its pages. It was a habit of his; whenever he had free time, he liked to read.

Suddenly, a loud voice shouted from outside, “Dustin, get out here now!”

Florence burst into the room, followed by James and a few other men.

“Do you need something from me?” Dustin asked, looking up at her.

“You heartless animal! What did Julie ever do to you? How dare you try to get her in trouble?” Florence yelled as she entered. “You’re truly shameless and ungrateful!”

“Mom, when did you learn so many words?” James said, surprised. She hadn’t even finished middle school, but she sure knew how to scold someone.

“Is that the point?” Florence shot back, glaring at him.

Florence wiped her forehead and turned to Dustin. “Rhys, I bet you have nothing smart to say now! I knew you were guilty from the start!”

“I don’t know where you heard that rumor, but Julie’s arrest has nothing to do with me. She chose to hang out with the wrong crowd,” Dustin replied calmly.

“Bullshit! Do you think this will just go away if you keep denying it? I’m warning you, if anything happens to Julie in there, you won’t hear the end of it from me!” Florence warned, her teeth clenched.

“Is that the only reason you came here?” Dustin asked with no expression.

“Of course not! We came to ask you for the formula for Immortunol!” Florence said.

“That’s right!” James added. “For getting Julie into trouble, you need to pay us back. Hand over the formula!”

“The formula for Immortunol?” Dustin raised an eyebrow. “Sorry, I can’t give it to you. It belongs to the Harmon family now.”

“I don’t care! You have to give us a copy today!” Florence insisted, her tone demanding.

“Exactly! If the Harmon family can have it, so can we. If you give us the formula, we won’t hold your past against you!” James shouted.

“I told you, I can’t give you the formula. If that’s why you’re here, please leave,” Dustin said, trying to push them out of the medical center.

“Bullshit! You have to give it to us today, no matter what! Otherwise, don’t blame us if things get rough!” James threatened, a sinister look in his eyes.

Seeing the situation escalate, Caitlyn quickly stepped in front of Dustin, trying to protect him. “Y—you’re being unreasonable! Mr. Rhys has—”

“He’s already said he won’t give it to you. If you keep pushing, I’ll call the police!”

Caitlyn felt terrified, but she stood her ground.

“Who does she think she is? Get out of my way!”

In a fit of rage, James slapped Caitlyn hard, and she fell to the ground.

Her cheek turned a bright pink and started to swell.

Dustin’s face darkened as he watched.

A deep anger began to rise within him.
