An Understated Dominance - Chapter 21
At noon in the president’s office of the Quine Group, Dahlia was lost in her thoughts while reading some documents. Her mind was filled with worries about Dustin.
She feared that Trevor might find Dustin. If that happened, Dustin would be in serious trouble. “Lyra!” Dahlia finally called out, unable to keep her anxiety to herself any longer.
“Ms. Nicholson, how can I help you?” Lyra asked as she entered after knocking. “I need your help to prepare some gifts. I’m going to the Drey Group,” Dahlia replied.
“The Drey Group? Isn’t that Sir Spanner’s company?” Lyra exclaimed, surprised. “Yes, I want to talk to him,” Dahlia confirmed.
“Why do you want to talk to him? Is it about Dustin?” Lyra asked, her voice tinged with panic. “Please calm down, Ms. Nicholson! Sir Spanner is still angry. Why would you go and poke the hornet’s nest?”
“I have to try, no matter what!” Dahlia insisted. “Wait! We still have Mr. Nolan! He said he would help. Can’t we wait a little longer?”
Lyra suggested, hoping to delay the risky plan. “We’ve waited all night, and there’s still no word from him. I don’t believe he can help us. I need to do this myself,” Dahlia shook her head firmly.
“Ms. Nicholson, isn’t there a better way? Can we think this through again?” Lyra asked, concerned.
“Dustin is in trouble because of me. I can’t just sit here and do nothing. Please follow my orders,” Dahlia insisted.
Dahlia waved her hand, signaling her determination. Seeing the look in Dahlia’s eyes, Lyra sighed. She knew that once Dahlia made up her mind, there was no changing it. Reluctantly, she agreed to help.
Thirty minutes later, they arrived at the Drey Group. “Lyra, you can stay in the car. You don’t have to come inside with me,” Dahlia instructed.
“No way! We have to support each other through everything. I can’t let you take all the risk alone,” Lyra replied, showing her loyalty.
“This is dangerous. Just in case…” Dahlia started, but Lyra cut her off.
“Lyra, I need you to wait outside. If I don’t come out in half an hour, call the police, okay?” Dahlia said with a serious look.
“Got it! I’ll make sure to do my part!” Lyra replied, nodding eagerly. She understood how important this was. It was her responsibility to make sure Dahlia came back safely.
Dahlia took a deep breath and said, “I’ll go in then.” She opened the door and stepped inside the building.
The Drey Group was unlike any ordinary company. The employees were all muscular men covered in tattoos, and it was clear they were not friendly. After Dahlia introduced herself, a bald man led her to an office on the top floor.
Inside, she found Trevor, a bearded man sitting on a sofa with a cigar in his mouth. “Are you Ms. Nicholson from the Quine Group?” he asked.
As Dahlia entered, Trevor narrowed his eyes. “You’re beautiful. No wonder my useless son got into trouble over you.”
“Sir Spanner, how is your son doing?” Dahlia asked cautiously.
“He’s fine. He won’t die, but he’s crippled,” Trevor replied coolly.
“Crippled?” Dahlia’s expression changed.
Though Trevor spoke calmly, anger flickered in his eyes. “So, what are you going to do about this?” he asked, crossing his legs and leaning back.
“Sir Spanner, I take full responsibility for what happened. I hope you can show mercy and let Dustin go,” Dahlia said earnestly.
“You want to take responsibility? Are you sure you can handle that?” Trevor said, a sly grin spreading across his face.
“I’ll hire the best doctors to treat your son, and I’ll cover all the costs. Just tell me what you need,” Dahlia offered.
“I don’t want money,” Trevor replied suddenly.
He then placed a bottle of alcohol on the table. “If you really want to negotiate with me, you need to finish this bottle first.”
“I…” Dahlia hesitated, feeling the weight of the challenge ahead.
Dahlia found herself in a tough spot. She wasn’t great at drinking and wasn’t sure she could manage after finishing an entire bottle.
“What’s wrong? Don’t you want to drink it? If not, then no deal,” Trevor said, waving his hand dismissively.
“I’ll drink it!” she replied quickly.
Dahlia hesitated for a moment but then grabbed the bottle. To her, a bottle of alcohol was nothing compared to saving Dustin’s life. Taking a deep breath, she raised the bottle to her lips and began to gulp it down.
After finishing a third of the bottle, she started coughing, her face turning bright red. Despite the discomfort, she clenched her teeth and kept going. By the time she reached two-thirds of the bottle, she felt dizzy.
With a few deep breaths, she managed to finish the entire bottle.
“Sir Spanner, are you satisfied now?” she asked, gripping the table to steady herself.
“Ha! This is interesting,” Trevor said with a teasing smile. “Since you seem serious, I’ll give you another chance. Now, take off your clothes.”
“What?” Dahlia frowned. “Sir Spanner, what do you mean?”
“Don’t you get it? I want you to strip and serve me. If you can satisfy me, I might let you go. Honestly, I’ve been with many women, but never with someone as beautiful as you,” Trevor smirked.
Dahlia’s expression darkened at his words. She knew his son, Edward, was a greedy pervert, but she never imagined his father would be the same. It was true what they said: an apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
“Sir Spanner, I can promise you anything else, but not this!” she pleaded desperately.
“Anything except this?” Trevor chuckled darkly. “You should know how powerful I am. You should feel honored that I’m even talking to you. If I wanted to, I could ignore you completely, no matter what you did. Think carefully about your next move!”
“I’ll go take a shower. You better have all your clothes off by the time I get back. If not, I’ll just do it myself! And trust me, my brothers outside will help me!”
Dahlia’s face went pale when she heard this. She suddenly understood that she had stepped into a dangerous situation.
