An Understated Dominance - Chapter 211
“This young man must be the skilled healer you mentioned, Mr. Rhys, right? Based on what happened today, you really live up to your reputation,” Roderick said.
“I just hope you won’t take it too hard, Mr. Brooks,” Dustin replied.
No one likes to hear they’ve been cheated on.
“Speaking of which, I should thank you, Mr. Rhys. If it weren’t for your sharp eyes, I don’t know how long I would have been deceived,” Roderick said with a forced smile.
It was better to face the truth now, even if it was a bit embarrassing. It was far better than being cheated on over and over.
“Mr. Brooks, if you don’t mind me asking, could your secret illness be the same as your wife’s?” Natasha asked carefully.
Usually, if his wife had it, Roderick would likely have it too.
“Um, I probably don’t have it,” Roderick said, looking a bit shy. “To be honest, I haven’t been intimate with my wife for half a year because I’ve been so busy with work.”
“That’s good. You dodged a bullet,” Natasha smiled.
“Mr. Rhys, can you tell me what disease I have?” Roderick asked directly.
“Mr. Brooks, have you been experiencing back and knee pain, mood swings, and insomnia?” Dustin suddenly asked.
“How did you know?” Roderick raised his eyebrows in surprise.
“I’ve been observing you,” Dustin replied with a slight smile. “I can see that your body is weak and sickly, and I also noticed an old injury in your lower back. If I’m correct, you hurt your lower back a few years ago, right?”
The moment Roderick heard this, his expression turned serious. The way he looked at Dustin changed as well.
Roderick had been hurt a few years ago. He was on his way to a meeting to discuss a business deal when a hitman appeared and stabbed him in the lower back. Luckily, he survived, but the injury had caused him pain ever since.
The strange part was that he had never told anyone about his injury. So, how did Dustin find out?
“Mr. Rhys, you’re incredible! But how did you know?” Roderick asked, surprised and a bit suspicious.
“I’m a doctor. I can often spot clues about health just by observing small details. For instance, earlier, you walked stiffly and seemed to put less weight on your left foot. It’s clear you have a lower back injury,” Dustin explained.
“Ha! You really are a miracle worker, Mr. Rhys! I appreciate your skill!” Roderick laughed.
“Thank you, Mr. Brooks. I’m just using my knowledge,” Dustin replied humbly.
“Mr. Rhys, can you check my condition and see if it can be fixed?” Roderick asked, holding out his wrist.
Dustin took his pulse and then said, “It is curable, but it will take some time. The knife wound injured your kidney, which has affected your ability to have children. This is likely why you haven’t had more kids.”
Both Natasha and Roderick were stunned by his words.
“Are you sure you’re not mistaken, Mr. Rhys?” Roderick frowned.
“That’s right, Dustin. Mr. Brooks has a four-year-old son,” Natasha chimed in.
Roderick had always cherished Chloe because she gave him a son. As a middle-aged man, having a son filled him with love and pride for both his child and Chloe.
“Huh?” Roderick was confused.
It was Dustin’s turn to feel confused.
He grabbed Roderick’s wrist again and said firmly, “This doesn’t make sense! Your knife injury happened at least six years ago. The knife went deep, so there’s no way you can have kids, unless—”
“Unless what?” Roderick asked, curious despite himself.
“Unless your son isn’t really yours,” Dustin replied.
Roderick was left speechless.
