In the morning at the airport, Edwin and Tina stood in front of a Rolls-Royce Phantom, waiting. “Dad, we’ve been waiting for two hours. Where’s Joshua?” Tina asked, her eyes darting around with worry.
“It’s normal for flights to be delayed. Let’s just wait a bit longer,” Edwin replied calmly. He felt reassured after receiving a call from Joshua the night before, saying he had completed his refinement and was now a key player for the Hummer family.
As they talked, a young couple walked out of the airport. The man was strikingly handsome, with a confident presence that made it hard to look at him directly. The woman beside him wore a red dress and looked equally impressive—beautiful, graceful, and strong.
“Dad, he’s here!” Tina exclaimed, her face lighting up with joy. She had been eagerly awaiting his return.
“Josh, you’re finally back!” Edwin said, walking up to him with a wide smile.
“Sorry to keep you waiting, Dad,” Joshua replied, smiling as he introduced the woman next to him. “This is Jade Grant, my fiancée.”
“Jade Grant?” Edwin said, surprised. “Is she the third daughter of the Grant family?”
“Yes, that’s right,” Joshua confirmed with a grin.
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Hummer,” Jade said with a polite nod.
“Nice to meet you too! You truly are a wonderful daughter of the Grant family—beautiful and graceful!” Edwin said, beaming with pride. He never expected his son to win over such an important family. The Grant family was one of the “Tremendous Three,” the three most powerful families in Millsburg, even stronger than the “Fabulous Five.” If the Hummer family could form an alliance through Joshua’s marriage to Jade, their future would be very bright!
“Why did you summon me home so urgently?” Joshua asked as they settled into the car. He had just finished his training the night before when he received the call to return right away.
“I hate to say it, but Swinton has a new challenger. He’s more powerful than we expected and has already defeated all my men. Our family has been struggling because of him. I had no choice but to bring you back,” Edwin said, looking defeated.
“Exactly! You don’t know how annoying he is, Joshua! He even attacked me on my birthday over the smallest things!” Tina chimed in, showing her frustration. “Look at my arm! I’m still not fully healed! I’ve never been treated like this before. You have to make him pay for what he did!”
“Who is this guy? How dare he bully a member of the Hummer family!” Joshua’s expression darkened, and a fierce energy surrounded him.
“His name is Dustin Rhys, and he’s not someone to take lightly,” Edwin warned. “He also has the Harmon family backing him.”
“The Harmon family?” Jade laughed lightly. “They’re just one of the Fabulous Five—they don’t have much power. If you need help, Mr. Hummer, just ask.”
“There’s no need for the Grant family to get involved in something so trivial,” Joshua replied calmly. “Now that I’m back, I won’t let anyone challenge the Hummer family’s authority—not even the Harmon family!”
“Josh, have you had a breakthrough?” Edwin asked cautiously.
“Yes, I have. I’ve reached divinity!” Joshua said with a proud smile.
“A divine-level martial artist?” Edwin exclaimed with joy. “That’s amazing! I knew you wouldn’t let me down!”
Joshua was likely the only divine-level martial artist in their family, and he was ready to face any challenge that came their way.
In all of Swinton, there were many artists. However, low-level martial artists couldn’t compete with divine-level martial artists. While they could improve their skills, their physical abilities had limits.
