An Understated Dominance - Chapter 2428
Willem moved so quickly that even a grandmaster would think he had teleported, leaving no time for anyone to react. Bailey had already captured Arion’s full attention, making it almost impossible to defend against Willem’s sudden attack.
Just as everyone expected Willem to succeed, a red divine talisman shot out and stuck to his forehead, just inches away from Arion’s neck. The talisman exploded, sending a wave of energy that knocked Willem over ten yards away. Before he could hit the ground, a blazing fireball surrounded him.
He screamed as the flames turned him into a human torch. The fire burned fiercely, scorching his skin and charring his body. The flames clung to him like a curse, refusing to go out. His blood energy crackled and hissed as the fire raged on, thick black smoke rising from his body.
Everyone was shocked. Just moments ago, Willem had almost pulled off his ambush, but Arion had been ready. With a single talisman, Arion stopped the attack and set Willem on fire, leaving him in agony.
Even though Willem had incredible vital energy, he still felt pain. Regular wounds were nothing to him since he could heal instantly, so that pain was barely noticeable. But being burned by fire was a different story, especially when the flames wouldn’t go out. For someone who could heal, this was a nightmare of endless pain as his skin burned and healed again and again. It was unbearable, even for someone as strong as him.
“Let me help you,” said a god from the Hall of Gods. He quickly pulled out a blue orb and threw it toward Willem.
As soon as the orb touched the flames, it exploded, releasing a wave of mist. The raging fire was quickly suppressed as water clashed with the flames, creating a thick cloud of white smoke.
Seeing the effect, the god threw two more blue orbs. Finally, the…
the flames that had engulfed Willem were finally put out.
At that moment, Willem was barely recognizable. His body was badly burned, and he looked terrifying. Luckily, his incredible regenerative powers kicked in. The charred skin started to peel away, revealing soft flesh underneath.
In just a few minutes, Willem was fully healed, although his skin had turned noticeably paler.
Vampires like Willem had amazing life energy, but healing came with a price. Unlike martial artists who regained strength through spiritual energy, vampires needed to drink blood – preferably from stronger beings, as it could even enhance their own power.
“I didn’t expect you to have that trick, old man. I must have underestimated you,” Willem gasped, his face dark with anger.
“You didn’t just underestimate me; you also thought too highly of yourself,” Arion replied with a smirk.
“Looks like I need to step up my game if I want to kill you today.” Willem then turned to the god from the Hall of Gods who had just saved him. With a smile, he said, “Thanks for your help earlier, but I need something more from you.”
“What do you need?” the god asked, confused.
“Your life.”
In an instant, Willem was behind him, fangs bared, and bit into the god’s neck.
The god’s body stiffened, a look of terror spreading across his face. He tried to fight back, but he was frozen in place, unable to move.
Willem drank deeply, and the god’s body began to shrink and wither before everyone’s eyes. In just moments, the once-powerful figure was reduced to a lifeless shell, his gray hair and sunken features marking him as a victim, his eyes wide open in eternal fear.
Willem wasn’t just taking the god’s blood; he was…
Willem took a deep breath, feeling a wave of satisfaction wash over him. The blood energy he had just absorbed made him feel stronger than ever. But his actions angered the other fighters. After the god had saved him, Willem had repaid the favor by draining the life out of him. This cruel act could not be overlooked.
“Hey! Are you crazy? How could you kill your own ally?” someone shouted.
The other gods from the Hall of Gods were furious. Even though they weren’t very close, they were still on the same side. Seeing one of their own turned into a lifeless shell because of Willem’s betrayal filled them with outrage.
“You exist to serve me,” Willem said, licking the blood from his lips with a wicked grin. “He was lucky to become part of me. Now, I’ll use his strength to defeat that old man.”
With that, he let out a powerful roar. Suddenly, two enormous black wings spread from his back, resembling those of a demon.
