An Understated Dominance - Chapter 2446
An hour later, Nathaniel quietly walked into a private mansion wearing a disguise. Inside the living room, Tristan was already there, having prepared tea and snacks. He looked like he had been waiting for a while.
“Sorry to keep you waiting, Tristan,” Nathaniel said as he took off his coat and approached him with a smile.
“No need to apologize. I’m just glad you made the effort to come. A few extra minutes don’t matter, especially since we rarely get to meet,” Tristan replied, inviting Nathaniel to sit down while he poured two cups of tea and handed one to his brother.
Nathaniel accepted the cup but discreetly set it aside. He was always careful about what he ate and drank when he was out—this caution had become a habit for him.
“You asked to meet me on short notice. Is this about official matters or something personal?” Tristan asked, taking a sip from his cup and getting straight to the point.
“Both,” Nathaniel replied, still smiling.
“Oh?” Tristan raised an eyebrow. “I’m listening.”
“Given how things have changed, I don’t need to hold back anymore.” Nathaniel sat up straighter, his smile fading into seriousness.
He continued, “Our father’s health is getting worse every day, and the question of succession is still unclear. There are only a few strong candidates, and even fewer who can actually claim the throne.
“As the eldest son and rightful heir, the throne should belong to you. But there’s increasing unrest in the government, especially from Matthias’ group. He doesn’t seem to fully support you taking the throne.”
“The throne is within reach. With his ambition, it makes sense for him to try for it,” Tristan said, keeping his expression neutral.
If Matthias had ambition, so did Nathaniel.
“If this were a fair competition between the three of us, we would rely on our own skills. But right now, the problem is that someone is trying to…”
Nathaniel made a shocking statement. “They’re going to interfere and take what belongs to us.”
“Huh?” Tristan frowned. “What do you mean?”
“You probably haven’t heard yet, but the Mosey family has teamed up with several groups to back Matthias for the throne. Right now, Matthias is in control of almost everything,” Nathaniel explained.
“Matthias getting support from the Mosey family shows he’s capable,” Tristan replied, keeping his face neutral.
“Support?” Nathaniel shook his head. “If you think that’s true, you’re really mistaken.”
“What do you mean?” Tristan asked, confused.
Nathaniel continued, “From what I’ve found out, Seamus is a master manipulator who craves power. His support for Matthias isn’t genuine loyalty; he’s just using him for his own goals.
“Matthias is great at leading armies and fighting battles, but when it comes to dirty tricks and scheming, he can’t match Seamus.
“Right now, Seamus is using Matthias’ name to build alliances and push his own plans. If Matthias actually becomes king, Seamus will be the one pulling the strings and will be the real ruler.
“Then, not only will Matthias be Seamus’s puppet, but the whole Linsor dynasty will fall apart.”
Nathaniel’s expression turned serious, and his voice was heavy with warning.
