An Understated Dominance - Chapter 2451
After saying goodbye to Boston, Jovian checked into a nearby hotel, waiting for good news.
Boston wasted no time. After changing into clean clothes, he went to the castle to deliver a letter of introduction. But when he arrived, he was shocked by the scene.
The gates of the West Lucozian monarchy were crowded with people. Among them were some familiar faces: Huxley Thatcher, the Commander of the Militia; Warrick Prescott, the Major General of the State Guard; and Percival Wentworth, the Chancellor of the National Academy.
These three were top officials in West Lucozia, known for their power and influence.
Warrick, in particular, was two ranks above Boston, making Boston feel nervous. He wanted to make a good impression.
Alongside these three important figures were several other officials of lower ranks, all waiting at the entrance. Each of them had more power and influence than Boston.
“Wow, is today some important event? Why else would all these big names be here at the same time?” Boston thought, feeling a chill run down his spine. His earlier confidence had turned into nervousness.
To others, being a third-ranking official meant he had a good position, but compared to these elites, he felt like a minor player at the gates.
Most of the time, he showed up just to stay on their radar, played the game, and tried to make sure they remembered him. When it came to real influence, he was just an observer.
At that moment, the red gates of the castle were tightly closed, and everyone was waiting anxiously outside. Some first-ranking officials occasionally looked through the narrow gaps.
The guards at the door did not stop them. As long as no one tried to force their way in, they acted like they didn’t see anything.
“What’s going on with the prince today? We’ve been waiting out here forever. Does he really plan to keep us all waiting?” Warrick complained, pacing nervously.
“Exactly! I’m not as young as I used to be. Standing in this blazing sun is giving me a headache. I can’t take it much longer,” Percival grumbled.
“Alright, gentlemen. The prince said he has important business today and isn’t seeing visitors. You might as well head back,” Huxley urged.
“Really? You want us to leave? Why don’t you leave, then?” Warrick shot back.
“Come on, we’ve all been around long enough to see through your tricks. I see what you’re doing, but I can’t be bothered to call you out,” Percival rolled his eyes.
He had come on behalf of Tristan to gather information. Huxley had a deal with Nathaniel, and Warrick owed Matthias a favor. Though they shared the same goal, their loyalties were pulling them in different directions.
“Calm down, everyone. Let’s face it—the prince knows why we’re here and wants nothing to do with it. Standing around isn’t helping us. How about we find a place to eat and have a few drinks instead?” Huxley suggested with his usual grin.
