An Understated Dominance - Chapter 2452
“Get lost! I’m not in the mood right now. If you want to eat, go by yourself,” Warrick snapped, clearly annoyed.
“I’m not going either,” Percival replied firmly. “I’m sticking to my health plan—only tea, no alcohol.”
“Fine. If you’re going to wait, then wait. I’m leaving,” Huxley said with a forced smile, turning to go.
Just then, he almost bumped into Boston, who was coming from the opposite direction.
“Sorry, Sir Thatcher! I hope I didn’t startle you,” Boston said quickly.
With so many important officials around, Boston felt nervous. He had zoned out for a moment and nearly collided with Huxley, leaving him flustered.
Unlike the other generals, Boston didn’t have a powerful background or connections. He had worked hard to rise through the ranks, and he didn’t want to offend Huxley and jeopardize everything he had achieved.
Huxley frowned briefly but then relaxed, offering a smile. “It’s alright. You seem in a hurry. Is something bothering you? Feel free to talk about it.”
Boston was a third-ranking official, which was a respectable position. With another promotion, he could become Huxley’s right-hand man. Huxley thought it was wise to be friendly.
“I came to discuss something important with the prince, but I didn’t expect such a distinguished gathering. My apologies,” Boston said, forcing a smile.
“Oh? You’re here to see the prince too? What a coincidence! We’re all here for that,” Huxley said with a grin.
“Who do you think you are, showing up here? Get lost!” Warrick growled.
Boston froze at Warrick’s words. He quickly nodded, “Y-Yes, I didn’t realize you were having such an important discussion. I’ll… leave.”
door swung open, and everyone turned to see who was coming in.
Huxley stepped forward and said, “Hold on a moment. Let’s hear him out. It’s possible he has something important to share.”
Warrick frowned but didn’t argue. Huxley then looked at Boston, encouraging him to continue.
“Uh, right,” Boston said nervously. “Mr. Jovian from the Ballard family is visiting West Lucozia today. He asked me to deliver a letter and request a meeting with the prince.”
This made the others laugh.
“Mr. Jovian? Never heard of him! He should just go back home!” Warrick said with a scoff.
If Simon had been there, he would have shown some respect. But Warrick saw Jovian as just a spoiled rich kid, and he didn’t take him seriously at all.
“Do you really think anyone can just stroll into the West Lucozian court? That’s ridiculous!” Percival added, shaking his head.
Three high-ranking officials were waiting outside, and now some nobody thought he could just waltz in to see the prince. It was laughable.
“Get out of here! You’re making a fool of yourself. Just looking at you annoys me!” Warrick barked at Boston.
“Okay… okay. I’m going,” Boston stammered, sweating and afraid to wipe his forehead. He bowed his head and turned to leave.
Just then, the door opened again, and everyone paused, curious about who would enter next.
The red gate of the castle creaked open.
