An Understated Dominance - Chapter 2465
A dull sound echoed in the air.
Jovian’s body shook, and blood poured from his eyes, ears, and nose as he collapsed to the ground, lifeless. He was dead. After fighting until the end, he had chosen the only honorable way out.
Even the assassins, who were used to violence, were momentarily shocked. Taking one’s own life like that was not something everyone could do. Even the weakest creatures instinctively try to survive, let alone a human.
“This guy… He’s ruthless,” Ronan said, his expression darkening.
Warrick had ordered them to capture Jovian alive, but now that was impossible.
Ronan realized he had no way to report back. If he had known it would end like this, he would have taken matters into his own hands and killed Jovian himself.
“What now, boss?” one of the assassins asked.
“Clean up the scene,” Ronan ordered. “I’ll take the body back myself.” He picked up Jovian’s body, threw it into the vehicle, and drove away.
Meanwhile, Warrick and Huxley were enjoying tea in a luxurious estate, waiting for an update on the mission.
“Mr. Prescott, it’s been a while with no news from your men. Don’t tell me they’ve failed,” Huxley asked.
“Impossible,” Warrick replied confidently. “My assassins are the best. There’s even a grandmaster martial artist among them. Taking down two nobodies should have been easy.”
Warrick rarely sent out these elite assassins, but when he did, he always expected success. There had never been an exception.
“If you say so, then I won’t worry,” Huxley said, looking relieved.
If Jovian had escaped, it would have caused serious problems for both of them.
“Don’t worry about my men. Jovian will be captured. The real question is, can you erase all traces of this?” Warrick asked sharply.
said, stopping Ronan before he could leave. “Make sure the body is taken care of properly. I don’t want any mistakes.”
“Yes, sir,” Ronan replied, nodding as he got back to his feet.
Once Ronan and his subordinates left with the stretcher, Huxley turned to Warrick. “You handled that well,” he said with a grin. “But you can’t let your anger get the best of you. We need to stay focused.”
Warrick sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I know. It’s just frustrating. We had everything planned out. Jovian was supposed to be our key.”
“Plans change,” Huxley said, leaning back in his chair. “Let’s think of our next move. We still have a chance to turn this around.”
Warrick nodded, his mind racing with possibilities. “You’re right. We need to find out who else might be involved and eliminate any loose ends.”
“Exactly,” Huxley replied, his eyes gleaming with excitement. “Let’s regroup and strategize. We can’t let this setback stop us.”
As they continued to discuss their next steps, the tension in the room slowly faded. They were partners in this dangerous game, and together, they would find a way to regain control.
Just as they were about to leave, a call came in. “Did you leave any loose ends? Any witnesses?”
“No survivors,” Ronan replied. “Our men are already cleaning up the scene.”
“Make sure it’s spotless. Not a single trace left behind,” Warrick ordered coldly. “If I find even a whisper of this leaking, you’ll pay with your heads.”
“Got it, Sir Prescott!” Ronan answered crisply before he turned to leave.
Silence filled the room, interrupted only by the steady drip of blood soaking through the stretcher’s sheet.
Warrick stepped forward and pulled the cloth away.
Jovian’s face stared back at him, twisted in death. Blood covered his features, and his lifeless eyes seemed to challenge Warrick.
“You were so arrogant before. Why so quiet now?” Warrick sneered. “This is what happens when you cross me.”
In a sudden motion, he drew his blade and severed Jovian’s head from his body. Then, with a kick, he sent it flying across the room like a ball.
Behind him, Huxley frowned slightly but quickly masked his expression.
Jovian’s suicide had complicated their plans. They not only failed to get any useful information, but they also had a mess to clean up.
Still, there was no turning back now. As long as they covered their tracks, they could avoid any problems. The game was far from over.
