“Kill them all!”

At Warrick’s command, the Red Legion charged forward without a moment’s pause. Their blades glinted as they rushed toward the elite enforcement unit.

This time, nearly a thousand Red Legion soldiers had gathered. Their overwhelming numbers allowed them to attack from both sides, leaving the enemy with no way to defend themselves.

“Form the Shield Formation!” Axel shouted when he saw the dangerous situation.

His men quickly sheathed their swords and raised their shields to create a solid defensive line. They had been cut off from their main force during the pursuit. Facing an enemy ten times their size, this was their best chance.

If they could hold off the attack for even a moment, reinforcements from the castle would arrive, turning the battle in their favor. Once that happened, the Red Legion would find themselves on the defensive.

With a brief charge, the two forces met.

Warrick had personally trained the Red Legion, handpicking only the most loyal and experienced soldiers. They were not only disciplined but also highly skilled, with each one capable of fighting off many enemies.

Although they might struggle in one-on-one combat against the elite enforcement unit, their formation gave them a powerful edge. With their numbers, they pushed forward relentlessly, leaving the elite unit struggling to keep up.

If not for Axel’s strength and determination to hold the line, their formation would have crumbled long ago.

“Connor! Dave! How dare you attack the enforcement team? Are you trying to start a rebellion?” Axel roared.

Attacking the enforcement team was an act of defiance against the whole kingdom, and it would lead to immediate exile from West Lucozia.

“If you dare to assassinate Sir Prescott, then why should we care if we’re starting a rebellion?” Connor Brent stood firm.

“That’s right. Today, we’re rebelling!” Dave Zanet said with determination.

Everything they had—their money and their power—was given to them by Warrick. They would do anything for him, even if it meant sacrificing their lives.

“You fools don’t know what you’re up against. Let’s see if you can survive in Celestria,” Axel warned.

As he spoke, Axel took out a flare and shot it into the sky. A loud bang echoed around them.

The red flare shot high and exploded with a loud boom at 330 feet. Thick red smoke filled the sky and hung there for what felt like forever.

This was the signal for a citywide lockdown. All troops had to mobilize immediately, and civilians were ordered to go home and lock their doors. The flare signaled the start of a major crisis.

Axel had been trying to arrest Warrick as part of his job, but he hadn’t expected things to get so chaotic. The Red Legion’s fight had turned the situation into a full-blown rebellion.

This wouldn’t end with just a few lives lost. By nightfall, the whole Red Legion and Warrick’s stronghold would be caught in the violence.

“Sir Prescott! Things are getting serious. We should retreat,” Connor said, his face pale as he looked at the red flare.

The Red Legion was strong, but they couldn’t match the law. The elite forces at the castle were already too much for them to handle, and with the whole city against them, they were trapped. There was no escape.

Only death awaited them.

“Leave a squad to hold them off. The rest, follow me,” Warrick ordered quickly. He decided to retreat with most of his forces. If it weren’t for the Tranqurin affecting him, he would have led a counterattack against the Red Legion.

knew his goal was to catch Warrick, and that was all that mattered.

“Keep moving!” Axel shouted to himself as he jumped from one rooftop to another. He was focused on his target, determined not to let Warrick escape. He had to report back to Austin, and he couldn’t afford to fail.

Meanwhile, Warrick and Connor were running for their lives.

“Sir Prescott! Someone’s chasing us!” Connor yelled, noticing a figure on the rooftops about a hundred yards behind them.

“Send a squad to take him down!” Warrick ordered, his voice sounding more strained than before.

Warrick was starting to feel dizzy, and he could feel his strength fading fast. He needed to reach the hideout. The special herb he had protected for years was the only thing that could help him fight off the effects of the Tranqurin.

“Two of you, lead a team to hold him off!” Connor commanded.

Two lieutenants quickly turned and rushed forward with a squad of soldiers. They drew their weapons as they charged at Axel.

Connor and Dave stayed close to Warrick, aware that he was in serious trouble. If an enemy attacked unexpectedly, things could get dangerous quickly without their protection.

“Attack!” one of the lieutenants shouted, rallying their soldiers.

But the situation quickly turned against them. Axel was too strong. He took down both lieutenants in one swift move before they could even reach him.

The group of Red Legion soldiers barely stood a chance. They scattered as soon as they engaged, overwhelmed by Axel’s skill.

With the soldiers behind him defeated, Axel pushed on, keeping his focus on finding Warrick. He didn’t need to confront their entire force; he just needed to catch his target.

All they needed to do was stay nearby, keeping a safe distance while shooting off flares every now and then. When the reinforcements from the castle showed up, that would be the perfect time to spring the trap.
