An Understated Dominance - Chapter 2490
“Really? Then show everyone the evidence. Let them see for themselves,” Austin said with a slight smile.
Langdon felt a lump in his throat and a cold sweat forming on his forehead. Had all his past been uncovered in just half a day?
“First, I looked into Mr. Langdon’s assets and income sources,” Axel said, placing a stack of documents on the table.
He continued, “His spending is much higher than his salary. He owns 18 luxury homes, numerous expensive cars, and a private collection of gold, antiques, and famous paintings. Altogether, his assets are worth tens of billions. At his current salary, it would take him thousands of years of saving to afford all of this. So I have to ask—where did all this money come from?”
As soon as Axel finished speaking, everyone turned their gaze to Langdon. They all knew he was corrupt, but they didn’t think it was to this extent. If his fixed assets were worth billions, his actual cash must be even more shocking.

“Langdon, is this what you call being honest and innocent?” Austin said, quickly flipping through the documents before tossing them at Langdon’s feet. His words hit hard.
“No! This can’t be true. Someone is trying to frame me!” Langdon shouted, kicking the papers aside. But the forced confidence in his voice couldn’t hide his fear. “I’ve always acted with integrity. There’s no way I could be involved in corruption. All of this is a lie.”
“You didn’t even look at the evidence. How can you say it’s fake?” Axel replied with a sneer.
“Hmph! Everyone knows how your enforcement team distorts the truth. Even the most innocent person could look guilty in your hands. Your so-called evidence is completely unreliable,” Langdon shot back.
“Are you saying that none of these assets Axel mentioned belong to you?” Austin raised an eyebrow.
“Of course not! They have nothing to do with me. This so-called evidence is fake,” Langdon insisted firmly.
“Okay, if these assets aren’t yours, we’ll take them,” Austin said, glancing over at Axel.
Axel smiled. “I’ll send someone to handle it.”
Langdon’s lips twitched in frustration, but he didn’t say anything. With tens of billions in assets built over the years, it stung to think they might be taken away. For now, he had to keep his anger to himself. As long as he denied everything, he was safe. But if he admitted to anything, it would all be over for him.
To Langdon, money was just something you could gain and lose. He believed he could always rebuild his wealth through shady means as long as he wasn’t caught.
“Is there anything else besides these questionable assets?” Austin asked.
“The assets are just one part of it,” Axel replied. “Despite his age, Mr. Langdon has quite an active personal life.”
“He has eight mistresses and 17 illegitimate children. Some are already adults, while others are just learning to walk. Supporting them costs a lot of money,” Axel added.
“Oh?” Austin said, turning to Langdon with a cold smile. “He’s nearly 70 and has so many children. Impressive.”
“You… You’re making this up!” Langdon’s face turned red as he tried to defend himself. “I have only one wife and one son. Where are all these so-called illegitimate children coming from? This is pure slander.”
“Mr. Langdon, you’re truly heartless. You won’t even recognize your own children?” Axel scoffed. “Why don’t we do a paternity test and see if you’re telling the truth?”
“Nonsense! Why should I entertain such ridiculous accusations?” Langdon turned away, refusing to engage further.
“Since these women and children…
“I have nothing to do with you; our castle will take them in,” Austin said with a slight smile. “Axel, make arrangements to bring them to the castle and ensure they are well cared for—no mistreatment or neglect allowed.”
“Yes, Your Highness!” Axel replied right away and began giving orders to his team.
“Wait!”
Langdon could no longer stay silent as he saw the situation getting worse. Losing his assets was one thing—there were always ways to recover from that. But if his children were taken away, it would mean the end of his family line.
“What is it, Mr. Langdon? Do you have something to say?” Austin asked.
“There are plenty of social welfare programs. Is it really necessary to bring them to the castle?” Langdon frowned.
“That’s not for you to worry about,” Austin replied with a smirk. “After all, they have nothing to do with you, right?”
“I…” Langdon struggled to find words.
His assets were gone, and now his children were being taken from him. If this kept up, he would be left with nothing.
“Axel, continue,” Austin said, snapping his fingers.
“Yes, Your Highness!” Axel nodded and pulled out another stack of documents.
He added, “In addition to the corruption, I’ve also found Mr. Langdon’s dealings with various officials. Here are the ledgers that detail those transactions. Your Highness, please take a look.”
Axel handed the ledgers to Austin.
Austin quickly glanced through them before tossing the ledgers at Langdon’s feet. “Care to explain? And don’t even think about denying it—every entry here is in your own handwriting. Let’s see how you talk your way out of this one.”
