An Understated Dominance - Chapter 2530
The next morning, Nathaniel sat in the study of his lavish mansion, flipping through an ancient manuscript.
One of his most trusted aides rushed in and spoke in a low voice. “Your Royal Highness, we’ve received word. A new trace of Dracan essence has been found.”
Nathaniel raised an eyebrow and closed the manuscript. “Where?”
“Our investigation indicates it’s now in the hands of Logan Rhys,” the aide replied.
“Logan Rhys?” Nathaniel’s eyes narrowed, visibly surprised by the name.

He had previously tried to win Logan over, sparing no expense, but never received a reply. Later, he learned that both Tristan and Matthias had attempted the same.
Luckily, Logan had yet to choose a side. He might’ve been holding out for the highest bidder, but at least he hadn’t closed the door on Nathaniel.
Now, with the Dracan essence in his possession, Logan had become an even more valuable asset. As a member of the West Lucozian royal family and an ultimate grandmaster, he was well worth recruiting.
If Nathaniel could bring him onboard, it would be a massive strategic advantage.
“Where is he now?” Nathaniel asked.
“Our sources say he’s checked into the Delight Hotel,” the aide answered.
“Go there immediately. Invite him over—no force or pressure.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
The aide bowed and turned to leave, but Nathaniel stopped him once more.
“I said invite him. Don’t forget that.”
“Understood.”
With another respectful nod, the aide left.
By noon, a luxury car pulled up to the mansion’s front gate. The door opened, and Dustin stepped out. He was quickly escorted inside by Nathaniel’s personal guards.
The mansion was elegant yet discreet. Though it appeared unassuming at first glance, it was heavily fortified, hiding something far more secretive beneath its refined exterior.
As they walked in, Dustin casually observed his surroundings, mentally noting every detail. Grace had already obtained the mansion’s blueprints, which he had studied, but he preferred verifying things firsthand. So far, the layout matched the plans.
The only problem was Nathaniel’s hidden surveillance points. From the moment he stepped inside, Dustin could feel the weight of at least a dozen eyes tracking him.
It was obvious that wandering around freely wasn’t an option unless guided. With Nathaniel’s resources, skilled fighters were certainly stationed throughout. One wrong move, and the whole mission could unravel.
With keen awareness of his surroundings, Dustin followed the guards through a meticulously maintained garden dotted with decorative rocks. Eventually, they arrived at the reception room.
Nathaniel was already at the door, greeting him with a broad, welcoming smile.
“Logan, it’s been a while. I’ve missed you,” he said warmly. “Come in, come in.”
Exuding charm, Nathaniel clasped Dustin’s hand and led him inside. Once they were seated, he called out, “Bring the tea!”
Soon after, a group of young, attractive maids entered carrying trays of tea and pastries.
“This is a special tea I’ve been saving. You have to try it,” Nathaniel said, gesturing for Dustin to take a sip.
Dustin nodded, lifted his cup, and took a drink. “Sweet and smooth, with a lingering aftertaste. It’s excellent tea.”
Nathaniel laughed and praised him, “You’ve got great taste.”
Giving a thumbs up, he added, “This tea is reserved for special guests like you. If you enjoy it, take some home with you.”
“Your Highness is too generous. In that case, I’ll gladly accept,” Dustin replied with a smile.
Since he was already here, he figured he might as well take advantage of the situation. Refusing might raise suspicion.
“We’re like brothers—no need for formality. If you need anything, just ask. I’ll make sure it’s taken care of,” Nathaniel said with a wide grin.
“Thank you, Your Highness.” Dustin offered a polite nod, then shifted the tone. “But I doubt you brought me here just for a friendly chat. What’s this really about?”
Nathaniel chuckled. “Nothing gets past you, does it?” Then, he got to the point. “I’ve heard you’re in possession of a Dracan essence. Is that true?”
“Oh? And where did you hear that?” Dustin replied coolly, avoiding a direct answer.
He knew better than to confirm it outright. With someone as cautious as Nathaniel, it was smarter to keep the conversation fluid and observe where it led.
“To be honest,” Nathaniel said with a calm smile, “I’ve been searching for Dracan essence for quite some time. I’ve invested heavily, and my network tracks every lead. Not much slips through the cracks.”
“I see,” Dustin replied, feigning contemplation.
Internally, he was amused. Nathaniel had poured so much into his search, yet it was Grace’s intelligence network that had uncovered the truth. It was clear who had the upper hand.
“I understand your hesitation,” Nathaniel continued. “But don’t worry—I’m not here to waste your time. If you’re willing to hand over the Dracan essence, I’ll make sure you’re generously rewarded.”
Nathaniel’s smile hinted at deeper intentions. To him, Dustin’s cautiousness was just a sign he was holding out for a better offer.
Nathaniel had wealth, influence, and charm. As far as he was concerned, everything had a price—and he could meet it.
