Chris tapped the table to get everyone’s attention. “I have some exciting news to share! Nolan Pharmaceuticals is looking to attract new investors. Is anyone interested?”

“New investors?” Everyone perked up. Nolan Pharmaceuticals was a top company with very few shares available, so Chris’ announcement surprised everyone at the table.

“Isn’t the company doing well, Mr. Nolan? Why the sudden offer?” Dahlia asked, curious.

“Absolutely, it is doing well,” Chris replied with a smile. “We plan to list our company publicly soon. We have plenty of talent and can handle the competition. This share listing will help us provide our employees with good bonuses this season.” He added, “We haven’t announced this publicly yet, and spots are limited. If anyone’s interested, we can reserve some shares for you.”

That got everyone excited. Investing in Nolan Pharmaceuticals could lead to big profits!

“Count me in, Mr. Nolan! I can invest five million!” James shouted eagerly.

“I’ll put in eight million!” Florence chimed in.

Chris smiled. “Great! That’s two spots for you.”

“Hey, I want in too! I have three million!” someone else called out.

“I’ll go for five million—that’s all my savings!” another voice yelled.

The family began to shout over each other, worried they would miss out on a share. It was a clear case of everyone wanting to join in.

“What about you, Dahlia? How many shares would you like?” Chris asked, looking at her. “I can set aside some extras for you because of our relationship.”

“I…” Dahlia paused to think.

She had learned a lot on her journey to get where she was today.

Dahlia understood that she shouldn’t let her feelings influence her decisions.

“Don’t you trust me, Dahlia? I’m offering you a share because you matter to me. You can say no if you want—there are plenty of others who want a share,” Chris said with a slight huff.

“I didn’t mean it that way. I’m about to join the Harmons as a shareholder, so I need to be careful with my money,” she explained.

“How much do you have available right now?” Chris asked.

“Not much. Just a million at most,” she replied.

“That’s more than enough! Honestly, you don’t need that much to work with the Harmons. Why not invest in my company instead? We give out great dividends every year,” Chris suggested.

“He’s right, Dahlia. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance!” Florence exclaimed.

“What are you waiting for, sis? You can trust Mr. Nolan. He’s helped you so many times!” James added.

“If you believe in me, Dahlia, then invest in my company. If you don’t, that’s okay too,” Chris said, softening his tone.

“Alright then,” Dahlia finally nodded after some hesitation. She felt she owed Chris this favor, and it would be disrespectful to turn him down.

This investment didn’t seem like a bad idea either.

And just like that, Dahlia committed her million dollars to Nolan Pharmaceuticals.

“What about you, Dustin? Want to buy a share?” Chris asked with a smirk.

“Oh, and just so you know, the minimum investment is one million. You could potentially earn big with that amount,” he added.

“Thanks, but no,” Dustin replied.

“Thanks.”

“Heh, I see… Are you not interested? Or do you just not have much to spare? Here’s what I’ll do: For Dahlia’s sake, I’ll let you buy a ten-million share if you can come up with at least a hundred thousand dollars,” Chris said with a grin.

Dustin shrugged and replied, “No, thank you. I’m not interested in a company that’s about to shut down.”

Chris’s smile faded, and he looked stunned.
