An Understated Dominance - Chapter 383
Everyone was stunned by Natasha’s words. No one could believe she would say something like that. “Natasha? What are you talking about? Are you sleep-talking?!” Jessica stared at her in disbelief.
Natasha replied calmly, “I’m wide awake, and I know exactly what I just said. I need to share my feelings today. Tyler and I aren’t right for each other.”
“Natasha, what do you mean?” Jayla asked, her brow furrowing with concern.
“I’m backing out of this marriage.” Natasha dropped this shocking news as if it were nothing.
“You’re backing out?” Jayla’s expression darkened. “Natasha Harmon, are you crazy?! How dare you break off a union with the Grants? The nerve of you!” Jessica added, “Natasha, stop this nonsense. You can’t say things like that lightly!”

The Grant family was one of the most powerful families around, part of the Tremendous Three. They had connections and a legacy that far exceeded the Harmons. With Tyler, their brilliant leader, the Grants had reached new heights. Many wealthy families would love to be associated with them, but Natasha wanted to back out of the marriage. It was like slapping the Grants in the face.
“I know I’m the one at fault here. I’m truly sorry. If you’re worried about your reputation, you can announce it yourself. I’ll take the blame. But I will never marry Tyler,” Natasha said firmly, her gaze steady.
“Natasha Harmon, do you think you’re the one in control here? Who do you think you are?”
“You are?” Jayla shouted angrily. “This marriage is a decision made by both families. You don’t get a say in it!”
Natasha replied coolly, “I can accept everything else your family wants, but I won’t marry anyone!”
Jayla scoffed, “You don’t get it. You should feel lucky that my brother wants to marry you! Your opinion doesn’t matter. My brother makes the decisions!”
“Then tell your brother to cancel the marriage,” Natasha said firmly.
“Not a chance!” Jayla shot back. “My brother always gets what he wants. It doesn’t matter if you agree or not. This wedding will happen!”
“I will not marry Tyler,” Natasha insisted. She wouldn’t give up her chance for happiness for a marriage she didn’t want.
“Natasha, you’re the daughter of a well-known family. You should know that some things are out of your control. Think about the whole Harmon family, not just yourself. If you try to break off this marriage, you’ll make the Grants your enemies!”
Jayla continued, “Even if my brother doesn’t retaliate, your enemies won’t let you off easily. They’ve been holding back because of our support. How long do you think your family can survive without us? Your father is already in trouble with the Dark Lord. Without my brother, do you really think you can protect yourselves?”
“Think about it carefully! In seven days, we’ll be at the Harmons’ annual family gathering. Whether we’re allies or enemies is up to you!”
With those harsh words, Jayla stormed off with her group.
