“Madam Gloria, this isn’t fair! You’re trying to make me fail on purpose!” Dahlia said, her face twisted in anger. No one would stay calm after losing one billion dollars.

“Be quiet! Where are your manners when you talk to my grandma? Know your place!” Dakota shouted at Dahlia.

“You have to pay for what you’ve done. Dustin acted out, and he should face the consequences. I’ll be clear: if you pull another stunt costing a billion dollars, I’ll make you the chairman. If you can’t handle it, then you should leave,” Gloria said, waving her hand dismissively, as if she held all the power.

“Why are you still here? Go away!” Dakota urged Dahlia.

But before she could leave, Dahlia replied, “Madam Gloria, since you’re being unfair, I’ll report this to the patriarch and let him decide.”

“Stop right there!” Gloria shouted angrily. “You little brat! How dare you threaten me? Someone slap her!”

“I’ll do it!” Dakota sneered and slapped Dahlia twice, leaving red marks on her cheeks. Dahlia held her face, shocked and furious.

“Are you unhappy? Slap her again!” Gloria yelled.

“Of course, Madam!” Dakota slapped Dahlia hard two more times, her resentment towards the pretty girl from the countryside bubbling over.

Dahlia bit her lip but remained silent, staring defiantly at Gloria.

“Is she still being stubborn? Hit her harder!” Gloria shouted, furious at the defiance in Dahlia’s eyes. Few dared to stand up to her.

“Get her!” Dakota ordered two elderly servants to beat Dahlia. Within moments, Dahlia was scratched on her face and bruised all over her body.

“How dare you talk back to my grandma? I’ll teach you a lesson today!” Dakota shouted, her anger boiling over as she hit and cursed at Dahlia. Dakota felt jealous that Dahlia, a country girl, was chosen as a candidate for the heir position instead of her. How could someone she saw as beneath her outshine her in beauty and grace?

“Stop right there!” Suddenly, an angry voice rang out from the entrance.

“Who’s yelling at our place?” Dakota looked up, ready to confront the intruder. But before she could say a word, she was met with a hard kick to the face. She stumbled back, yelping in pain as she fell three feet away. Her nose was bent, and she lost her front teeth, leaving her face bruised.

“Dustin Rhys! It’s you again! You animal!” Gloria shouted, furious at the sight of him. She stood up and tried to hit him with her walking stick.

“Get lost!” Dustin responded by slapping Gloria across the face, causing her to collapse to the ground.
