An Understated Dominance - Chapter 41
As time went on, more guests arrived to congratulate Dahlia. The venue was buzzing with people. A famous entertainer was performing on the main stage, while guests chatted and laughed over glasses of wine.
“Dahlia, this place is amazing! You’ll be the owner someday, right?” Florence said excitedly, looking around.
“Mom, I’m just a partner with the Harmon family. I’m not the main owner; I’m just a small part of the company we started together,” Dahlia explained.
“That’s still great! Once we work with the Harmon family, we won’t have to worry about the future!” Florence replied happily.
“Hey, Sis! Your career is really taking off! You must have made a lot of money, right? When are you getting me a nice car?” James chimed in with a grin.
“I already give you enough pocket money every month. Isn’t that enough?” Dahlia responded, a bit annoyed. She didn’t like giving handouts, even to her brother.
“It used to be enough, but I put all my savings into Nolan Pharmaceuticals, so now I’m out of cash,” James said with a sigh.
“Then just wait for the dividends,” Dahlia said, brushing off his complaint. As she turned around, she noticed Dustin and Natasha standing nearby.
“You invited Dustin? Ugh, that’s such a downer!” James frowned as he noticed them too.
“I didn’t invite him,” Dahlia said firmly.
“He showed up uninvited? How rude!” James grimaced. Then his eyes landed on Natasha, and his expression changed. “Hey, who’s that gorgeous girl next to him? She’s stunning!”
Florence spoke calmly, “It was that vixen causing trouble at the Jackson Group. I almost slapped her!”
James’s voice turned cold. “It was her? Damn it! Dustin is heartless. How could he bring her to such an important event? He’s such an eyesore!”
Florence replied, “Look, Dahlia, he’s finally showing his true colors. It’s a shame. You were so nice to him, but he’s so ungrateful and even tried to ruin today. I have to teach him a lesson!” She prepared to confront him.
“Mom! Today is the opening ceremony. Please don’t cause any trouble!” Dahlia quickly grabbed her mother. She knew that once Florence started making a scene, it would only get worse.
“Hmph! I’ll let him get away with it this time!” Florence was upset but tried to calm herself. She couldn’t embarrass her daughter on such an important day.
“Dahlia, you’re here?” Chris approached with Jeff, smiling.
“I want to introduce you to someone,” Chris said.
“This is Mr. Anderson’s son, Jeff!” He extended his hand as if presenting something special.
“So, you’re Jeff Anderson? It’s great to meet you!” James quickly tried to win him over. Jeff was from Swinton’s most elite family and had a much higher status than him.
“I didn’t expect you to come, Mr. Anderson! The Nicholson family is honored!” Florence beamed with a wide smile. Jeff had to be a big deal.
“Nice to meet you, Jeff,” Dahlia said warmly.
“You must be Ms. Nicholson. The rumors are true; you really are stunning!” Jeff replied, smiling back at her. Although they had never met before, he was clearly impressed.
Everyone knew about her. She was one of the Four Beauties in Swinton, and she was quickly becoming a star.
