An Understated Dominance - Chapter 413
In a coffee shop across the street, Mike and his friends stayed put, enjoying the scene outside.
“Abigail, was that man your relative? He’s so handsome and brave! He even stood up to Lord Horst!” one of the girls exclaimed.
“Yeah, I agree! With his looks and moves, he makes me feel all fluttery,” another girl added.
The girls huddled together, their admiration for Dustin growing as they chatted excitedly.
“But so what if he can fight? In this world, what really counts are brains, connections, and family background,” Mike said with a hint of irritation. “Besides, who knows if he’ll even make it out alive after crossing Lord Horst? There’s nothing to brag about there.”

“Exactly! That guy beat up Lord Horst’s men and embarrassed the Flame Dragon Gang. No matter how strong he is, he’s in big trouble,” another boy chimed in.
“He’s just a reckless kid who loves to show off,” the boys complained, which made the girls worry even more.
Dustin might have skills, but he had angered Lord Horst, a powerful figure in the Flame Dragon Gang. Fighting skills wouldn’t help against someone like that.
“Mike, didn’t you say your dad is friends with Lord Horst? Can you ask him to help Dustin?” Abigail pleaded, her eyes glued to the karaoke bar, anxious about what might happen.
“Abigail, even if my dad knows Lord Horst, you can’t expect me to ask him to help someone I don’t even know,” Mike replied, looking conflicted.
“Please, Mike! He helped me just now, and I can’t just leave him to fend for himself,” Abigail begged.
Mike hesitated for a moment before nodding. “Alright, I’ll try to talk to my dad for you, but I can’t promise anything. You know how Lord Horst is—nobody can stop him when he’s angry.”
“Thank you!” Abigail said, forcing a smile, relieved that he agreed to help.
“I’ll do my best,” Mike assured her.
Mike took out his phone and stepped into a corner, pretending to make a call. He had promised Abigail he would help, but he never claimed he would succeed. After all, his father was much lower in rank than Nelson, so there was no way Nelson would do his dad any favors.
Right now, Mike was just putting on a show to impress Abigail. He didn’t really care about Dustin’s safety.
“Done. My dad said he’ll put in the request, but it’s up to Lord Horst to decide,” Mike said, making sure to leave himself an escape route.
“Thanks, Mike,” Abigail replied with a smile.
“You’re welcome! We’re friends, right? Of course, I’d help you when you’re in trouble,” Mike boasted.
“You’re spoiling her, Mike. Why don’t you two start dating?” asked the girl with short hair.
“That’s up to Abigail. I wouldn’t mind,” Mike joked.
“Stop messing around, Nina,” Abigail said, blushing at the comment. Mike noticed her reaction and felt hopeful.
“Look! That guy is coming out!” one of the girls suddenly shouted, pointing at the karaoke bar.
Everyone turned to see Dustin walking out of the building, seemingly unharmed.
“Wow! Mike got him out with a phone call. That’s amazing!”
“That was quick! You’re awesome, Mike!”
Everyone was shocked to see Dustin safe, and the boys quickly started praising Mike.
