“He really got out?” Mike couldn’t believe it. He never thought Dustin would manage to leave that place unharmed. He had just made a casual call to his dad, not expecting much to come of it.

When did his father become so strict?

“Are you okay?” Abigail was the first to step out of the coffee shop to check on Dustin, with the rest of the students following her.

“What could have happened?” Dustin shrugged, looking relaxed. “And why are you all still here?”

“Nina was worried you might get hurt, so she stayed,” Abigail replied. “But honestly, I can’t believe you got out after making Lord Horst angry. You’re lucky.”

“Is he really that powerful? I took it easy on him,” Dustin said casually.

“What? You wanted to fight him?” Nina exclaimed, rolling her eyes. “Are you out of your mind? Lord Horst is the assistant leader of the Flame Dragon Gang. He has hundreds of men at his command. No one would have saved you!”

“Dude, here’s some advice: don’t think you’re unbeatable just because you can fight,” Mike warned. “There are many people out there who are stronger than you. You should be careful.”

“He’s right. You’re new here, so you don’t know how dangerous Millsburg can be. Do you think you could have escaped safely if Mike hadn’t called for help?” one of the boys chimed in.

“Mike? Which Mike?” Dustin asked, confused.

“This one, of course!” the boy said, proudly gesturing to Mike.

“Him?” Dustin chuckled and shook his head. “First off, I got out on my own. It had nothing to do with anyone else. And secondly, why would I trust someone who was scared of Lord Horst to save me?”

“You’re such a stubborn brat!” Nina said, clearly frustrated. “It’s already bad enough that you—”

“Are you really insulting Mike instead of thanking him for saving you?” one of the boys asked.

“Exactly! We shouldn’t have asked Mike to help if we knew you’d be so arrogant!” the others chimed in.

“Forget it. If he’s not grateful for my help, he can stay in his own little world. Sooner or later, someone will teach him a lesson,” Mike said, waving off their comments as if he didn’t care.

“See? This is how a kind and generous person acts,” Nina said, giving Mike a thumbs up.

“You have a long way to go before you reach Mike’s level,” the boys teased.

Even the girls frowned. They were drawn to Dustin’s looks and bravery, but his awful attitude was a huge turn-off.

“Fine. If you think he helped me, whatever,” Dustin replied, not wanting to argue. He then hailed a taxi and turned to Abigail. “Since we’re heading in the same direction, do you want to share a ride?”

“Mike, Nina, I’m leaving now. Let me know if anything comes up,” Abigail said as she waved goodbye and left with Dustin.

As soon as they left, Nelson and his brother stepped out of the karaoke bar, looking unhappy.

“Hey, isn’t that Lord Horst? He looks angry. Think he’s going to go after that guy?” someone asked.

“Go after him?” A mischievous spark appeared in Mike’s eyes. He quickly approached the two men with a sly smile. “Lord Horst, are you looking for the guy who fought you just now? I can take you to him. I know where he is.”

“What?” Nelson said, his face twisting with anger.

Not noticing the change in Nelson’s expression, Mike kept talking. “Lord Horst, you should—”

“Teach that arrogant brat a lesson. Don’t worry about hurting my feelings. You can do whatever you want to him!”

“Do whatever I want? I’ll show you!” Nelson shouted, slapping Mike hard across the face. “You idiot! Stay out of this crazy plan of yours! Just leave me alone!”
