Dustin stood there, speechless. What was he supposed to think when a girl approached him at night?

Not wanting to argue, he simply asked, “What do you need?”

“From today’s battle, you seem like a strong fighter. How did you do that?” Abigail asked.

“Ever heard of Elder-level martial artists? I’m one of them, so I can handle over three hundred opponents easily,” Dustin said casually.

“Yeah, right. I don’t believe you,” Abigail replied, clearly skeptical.

“Whatever. You probably can’t even understand what I’m saying. Just know that I’m very powerful,” Dustin said. Most ordinary people didn’t know about martial artists, so even if they saw one, they wouldn’t recognize it.

“Okay, but can you teach me some moves? I just want to be able to defeat a dozen men,” Abigail said, looking at him with hope.

“You want me to take you on as my disciple?” Dustin raised an eyebrow.

“Ugh, that’s so old-fashioned. Just teach me a few moves as a friend,” Abigail said, sighing.

“Alright, I can do that. But first, you need a solid foundation. Otherwise, it won’t help you. You’ll need to start by building your internal energy,” Dustin explained.

“What’s internal energy?” Abigail asked, puzzled.

“You can think of it like mana,” he replied.

“Oh, I get it. It’s what lets those people become super strong,” Abigail realized.

“Um… sort of,” Dustin said, his smile fading a bit. “It takes talent to cultivate mana. Hard work isn’t enough if you don’t have the talent. Those who are meant to be martial artists will pick it up easily, while those who aren’t won’t see results no matter how hard they try.”

“I see. So do I have that talent?” Abigail asked.

“Do you have talent?” Abigail asked eagerly.

“Give me your hand,” Dustin replied.

“Okay,” she said, holding out her wrist.

“I’ll share some of my true energy with you. If you can feel it, that means you have the potential to become a martial artist. If not, then maybe it’s not for you,” Dustin explained, as he channeled his energy into her.

“Wow! I can feel it! It’s warm and tingly!” Abigail exclaimed, her eyes shining with excitement.

“Not bad. You passed the first test,” Dustin nodded. But then, he frowned. The energy he had just sent her way seemed to vanish completely. It was like something had absorbed it.

“How is this possible?” he wondered. Curious, he tried again, sending another burst of energy into Abigail. But once more, it was quickly absorbed. This time, he sensed that a strong seal was inside her body, preventing his energy from making an impact.

Luckily, this seal was protective; it wouldn’t harm Abigail and would only activate if she was in danger. The seal must have thought the energy he sent was a threat, so it absorbed it automatically.

Dustin realized that the seal had likely been placed by someone very powerful, possibly a Grandmaster martial artist or someone even stronger, who was skilled in creating seals. Abigail was under the protection of someone important.

“What’s wrong? Is something the matter?” Abigail asked, noticing his worried expression.

“It’s nothing,” Dustin replied with a smile. “I’ll give you the training technique, but how far you go with it depends on you.” He wrote down the beginner techniques and handed the paper to her. “Study it in your room. Come back to me when you’ve mastered your internal energy.”

“Okay!” Abigail said, taking the paper and rushing back to her room with excitement.

“Interesting,” Dustin smirked as he watched her go.

Dustin watched as Abigail walked away. He noticed something unusual about her; the seal within her body was very rare. Only close family members would go to such lengths for something like that.

This made Dustin even more curious about Abigail’s mother.
