“Stop talking nonsense!” Autumn shot Torben a fierce look.

Suddenly, Patrick stepped out from the crowd, holding a Gemiphen. “Uncle, I have a healing pill. Should we let Grandfather try it?” He was desperate; his grandfather’s health was worsening.

“A healing pill?” Torben frowned. “That looks suspicious. Where did you get it?”

“Honestly, a friend gave it to me,” Patrick replied.

“Hah! Your friends? They’re useless,” Torben sneered. “Get rid of that pill and stop embarrassing yourself.”

“Grandfather’s condition is bad. We should at least try it. What if it works?” Patrick insisted.

“I said it won’t work! Give it back!” Torben slapped the Gemiphen out of Patrick’s hand.

“Hey!” Patrick frowned, upset.

“What? Do you have a problem? Do you want to fight?” Torben clenched his fists, showing off his strong muscles. Everyone knew Patrick was the weaker one in the family.

“I don’t want to fight you!” Patrick took a deep breath to calm himself. Just as he was about to pick up the pill from the ground, someone stepped on it, crushing it.

“What are you doing?” Patrick glared at Torben.

Torben smirked. “What’s the point of keeping that worthless pill? It might upset Grandfather’s stomach.” He pressed down harder, turning the pill into powder.

“Torben! You’ve gone too far!” Patrick’s fists were tight with anger.

“Disrespectful brat! How dare you talk to your older cousin like that?” Spring glared at Patrick, rushing to defend Torben.

“Uncle, he was the one being unreasonable!” Patrick protested, trying to make his case.

“Enough! My son…”

Autumn was worried about her grandfather’s safety. “How do we know that pill of yours isn’t poisonous?” she said with an air of arrogance.

“Exactly! What if you’re trying to hurt grandfather?” Torben added, sounding smug. With his father’s support, he felt they could easily intimidate Patrick.

“Enough!” Spring said firmly. “Father is sick, and you two are just arguing. What are you doing?” His serious tone silenced both of them. As the oldest brother, he still held some authority.

Just then, a voice called out, “They’re here! Mr. Turner from Stoneray Valley has arrived!” A thin man in a black robe walked in, carrying a medicine box.

“Mr. Turner, you’re just in time. Please, take a look at my father!” Spring quickly guided the man to the bedside.

“Everyone, please remain calm. I need to examine him first,” Nicholas said as he sat down and felt Paul’s pulse. After a moment, his expression grew serious. “The patriarch’s condition is critical. His internal injuries have built up over time and have now flared up. His meridians are broken, and his vital energy is chaotic. With my skills, I’m afraid I can’t do much.”

“What?” Spring exclaimed, panic rising in his voice. “Mr. Turner, you’re a respected elder of Stoneray Valley. If you can’t help him, who can?”

“Unless my master comes out of seclusion, I can’t offer much more,” Mr. Turner replied, shaking his head.

“But my father might not last until your master returns!” Autumn said, her brow furrowed with worry.

“Wait!” Nicholas suddenly sniffed the air. “What a lovely medicinal scent. Do you have a miraculous remedy here?”

“What do you mean by a miraculous remedy?”

“We would have let Grandfather take them if we had any,” Torben said rudely.

Nicholas, however, paid no attention to him. Like a hunting dog, he kept sniffing the air, searching for a scent. Soon, he spotted the crushed Gemiphen, and his expression changed instantly.

“What… Who did this? Such a waste! Such a terrible waste!”
