An Understated Dominance - Chapter 43
“How can it be her?” Dahlia gasped in shock when she saw Natasha on stage. Her face showed pure astonishment. She never imagined that the Ms. Harmon she wanted to meet was actually her rival!
“Mom, isn’t that the awful girl? Why is she up there?” James exclaimed, his eyes wide with disbelief.
“This can’t be! She’s Ms. Harmon?” Florence stammered, her lips trembling. She couldn’t believe that the woman she thought was trouble was actually the daughter of the Harmon family!
“Why? Why is it her?” Chris looked like he had been hit by lightning. His face turned pale, and his eyes were filled with disbelief. He never thought the woman next to Dustin was the business genius from the Swinton family. She was truly in a league of her own.
Cold sweat dripped down his forehead as he recalled his earlier actions. What should he do now? He realized he might have offended Natasha.
“Chris, have you met Ms. Harmon before?” Jeff asked, noticing something was off.
“I… I have met her, and we didn’t get along,” Chris admitted, his voice shaky with nerves.
“You dared to offend Ms. Harmon? You really have guts!” Jeff teased, giving him a mocking thumbs-up. Natasha wasn’t known for being kind or forgiving.
“Jeff! I was careless and upset Ms. Harmon. Can you help me out?” Chris’s anxiety grew, and he grabbed Jeff’s arm.
“Chris, I can’t help you with this. You should just pray!” Jeff shook off Chris’s grip and walked away. He wasn’t about to get on Ms. Harmon’s bad side for someone so unimportant.
“I’m done for,” Chris muttered as he watched Jeff leave. If Natasha was forgiving, maybe he would be okay. But if she wanted revenge, she could ruin him with just a word!
Meanwhile, the crowd around them was buzzing with surprise and gossip.
Everyone was surprised. “Mr. Lawson, didn’t you say Natasha would come begging after being poisoned? Why does she look fine?”
Edwin’s expression darkened as he observed Natasha on stage.
“This is strange. She shouldn’t be able to fight the poison. Could someone have given her the antidote?” Fletcher said, narrowing his eyes in disbelief.
“Is this the so-called incurable poison?” Edwin was frustrated. He felt something was off ever since he got the invitation, and seeing Natasha looking healthy confirmed his suspicions.
“Sir Hummer, mistakes can happen. No ordinary doctor can cure my poison unless she had someone special with her,” Fletcher said, lost in thought.
“Someone special? Who do you mean?” Edwin asked, frowning.
“Did you see the young man standing next to her?” Fletcher pointed to Dustin.
“Are you saying there’s something special about him?” Edwin followed Fletcher’s gaze.
“Absolutely. This man has steady hands and controls his breathing well. He looks like he practices medicine,” Fletcher replied, nodding.
“Is he a threat?” Edwin examined Dustin more closely. He didn’t see anything unusual; he just looked like someone trying to take advantage of Natasha.
“He’s nothing to worry about, just a small fry,” Fletcher said confidently.
