An Understated Dominance - Chapter 438
Since he had some free time, Dustin decided to take a break and relax.
Twenty minutes later, Dustin and Abigail parked their car and got out in front of a music bar. Unlike the loud and lively karaoke bar, this music bar was quieter. It was a nice place for friends to sit, enjoy drinks, chat, and listen to music. It felt calm and comfortable.
“Abigail! Over here!”
As soon as they entered the bar, a girl with short hair stood up and waved at Abigail. Dustin looked in her direction and recognized a few familiar faces.
The girl with short hair was Nina Sharp. Among the others was Mike Horton, a well-known guy at their school. The rest of the group looked familiar too, but Dustin couldn’t remember their names.

The only person he didn’t recognize was a girl in a school uniform. She was young and pretty, with a delicate oval face and beautiful features. She looked innocent and charming, like a fairy, and could easily catch anyone’s attention.
“Sorry we’re late,” Abigail said as she approached the group with a smile. She took the chance to introduce Dustin. “Everyone, you’ve already met. But this is our special guest today, Ruby Xenos.”
Abigail continued, “Let me share a little secret. Ruby is not just a popular live streamer with millions of fans; she’s also a star at our school.”
“Abigail, don’t be silly. I’m just a trainee. I’m not a star yet,” Ruby said, pouting.
“Your singing is amazing! It’s only a matter of time before you become famous. I know you will!” Abigail replied with a smile.
“Whatever you say!” Ruby rolled her eyes playfully.
“See? I told you there would be beautiful girls here. Are you impressed?” Abigail teased Dustin as she turned back to him.
Dustin glanced at Abigail but didn’t bother to answer her.
“Abigail, why did you bring someone new with us? We’re here to enjoy drinks and sing!” Mike said, clearly unhappy.
“Yeah, Abigail, it’s Ruby’s birthday, and it doesn’t feel right to have a stranger here,” Nina added.
“It’s okay! The more, the merrier!” Ruby smiled, unfazed by the comments.
“That’s right! This guy is great at fighting. If anything goes wrong, he can protect us,” Abigail said, nodding enthusiastically.
“What’s the use of being good at fighting? If something happens, it’s really about who you know,” Mike retorted with a sneer. He had been holding a grudge against Dustin ever since the last incident where Dustin overshadowed him. He wanted to use Lord Horst to get back at Dustin, especially since Dustin had slapped him and left his face a bit swollen.
“Alright, let’s stop talking about that. Everyone is here, so let’s get Ruby to sing us a song!” Abigail quickly changed the topic.
“It’s been too long since we’ve heard Ruby sing. Today is going to be amazing!”
“Ruby, hurry up and come to the stage! I can’t wait!” the crowd cheered excitedly.
“Okay, I’ll do my best,” Ruby said with a smile. She walked up to the stage and spoke with the male singer, who kindly agreed to let her take his place.
“Oh, this young beauty is taking over the stage. How interesting!” someone in the crowd remarked.
“Hey, pretty! Sing ‘The Love of a Boatman’ for me!” another shouted.
As soon as Ruby stepped on stage, all eyes were on her, especially from the men who had been drinking. They became even more excited and cheered loudly for Ruby.
“I’m…
“Sorry, I don’t know how to sing this song,” Ruby said, looking embarrassed.
“The Love of a Boatman is easy! You can learn it right now. If you sing, I’ll reward you!” a chubby guy said, stepping forward with a big smile. He held ten roses in his hands, each costing one hundred dollars. He had spent a lot of money just to hear a song.
“I really don’t know how to sing it,” Ruby insisted, feeling uncomfortable.
“I don’t care,” the chubby man replied, his grin turning sinister. “I’ve already made my request. If you don’t sing, it’s like you’re disrespecting me. But, if you’d like to have a few drinks with me, we can forget about it.”
Mike, who had been sitting nearby, stood up abruptly, his anger clear.
