An Understated Dominance - Chapter 445
The next morning, Dustin was reading some medical articles when a silver Bentley drove up to the courtyard entrance.
“Bad news, Dustin! Something happened to my dad!” Ruth burst into the building, her voice filled with worry.
“Calm down. Your dad won’t die yet.” Dustin said slowly, still looking at his book.
“Huh? How do you know that?” Ruth asked, surprised.
“I told you yesterday. Your father was poisoned, and he has only three days left. Today is the second day, so he still has one day,” Dustin explained.

“What should we do? Can you help him?” Ruth pressed.
“I can help, but only if one thing happens,” Dustin replied.
“What is it?” she asked eagerly.
“I hope your family can agree to your sister breaking off her engagement with the Grant family,” he said.
“Break off the engagement?” Ruth frowned. “Dustin, this is serious. My father won’t agree to that.”
The engagement was important to both families. If they broke it off, it could hurt the Harmon family’s reputation.
“Is keeping the engagement more important than your father’s life?” Dustin asked.
“You don’t know my dad. He always thinks about the big picture. He’d rather risk his own life for the family’s good!” Ruth said, her expression serious.
“He’s that stubborn?” Dustin was taken aback.
“Why else would my sister be forced into something she doesn’t want? I wish you could be my brother-in-law, but my dad would never let her end the engagement,” Ruth sighed.
“What a stubborn old man!” Dustin frowned. He had hoped this situation would change the father’s mind.
Ruth looked at Dustin with a spark of determination. “If you want to stop them from getting married, I have an idea,” she said.
“What is it?” Dustin asked, curious.
“It might be tough to get past my dad, but you could try someone else, like the Grant family. The Harmons have their annual family gathering tomorrow. I bet Tyler will send some gifts then. You could create a scene and maybe mess up the engagement,” Ruth whispered.
“Do you really think it will work?” Dustin pondered.
“Who knows? But you have to give it a shot. I believe you can do it,” Ruth said confidently, puffing out her chest.
Dustin stared at her, feeling tired and unsure. He thought she must watch too many soap operas.
“I want to help your dad, Roth, but first, I need to talk to your sister,” Dustin said, wanting to check with Natasha before taking any big steps.
“Sure! I’ll call her right now!” Ruth said, pulling out her phone. After a moment, she smiled and said, “My mom agreed! As long as you can treat my dad, she’ll let you meet my sister.”
“Deal!” Dustin exclaimed, jumping up. He quickly got into the Bentley to drive Ruth back to the Harmon estate. He had been anxious for days, and now he could finally see Natasha again.
