Not long after Hector coughed up dark blood, he woke up. His body felt weak, but it was a miracle that he was alive.

When Peter saw Hector regain consciousness, he admitted he was wrong and apologized to Dustin. He realized he had underestimated traditional medicine and planned to resign from his job when he returned to his country to learn it.

Dustin decided to let it go. Although Peter was proud, he genuinely respected those who were stronger than him.

The rest of the Harmon family went back to their usual activities after ensuring Hector was okay. However, Quentin shot a glare at Dustin as he left.

“Dad, how are you feeling? Are you in pain?” Ruth asked as she approached the bed with a glass of warm water.

“I’m fine. Just a bit bloated,” Hector replied, taking a couple of sips.

“Look at the blood you threw up! It’s full of maggots!” Ruth exclaimed, visibly shaken.

“What?” Hector looked down and frowned. “What’s going on?”

“Dustin said you were poisoned with mystic poison. If it wasn’t for him, you would still be unconscious,” Ruth explained.

“Dustin?” Hector turned to see him standing nearby, his expression serious. “I didn’t expect you to save me.”

“It’s too soon to celebrate. I’ve removed the venom, but you’re not out of danger yet,” Dustin said plainly.

“What do you mean?” Hector frowned.

“Mystic poison combines witchcraft and parasitic poison. I’ve cleared the parasitic part, but the witchcraft issue is still there,” Dustin explained.

“What should we do?” Hector asked.

“It’s simple. I just need to treat you once a day for the next five days, and…”

“You’ll recover,” Dustin said.

“I see,” Hector nodded and then asked, “How much will each treatment cost?”

“I don’t want money. I just need you to promise me something,” Dustin replied.

“What is it?” Hector inquired.

“I hope you can cancel the engagement between the Harmon family and the Grant family,” Dustin said, surprising Hector.

“Cancel the engagement?” Hector frowned. “Absolutely not!”

“Honestly, Mr. Harmon, I’m the only one who can save your life. Trading that marriage for your life seems like a fair deal to me,” Dustin said with a small smile.

“Are you threatening me?” Hector narrowed his eyes.

“I wouldn’t dare. I’m just making a request,” Dustin clarified.

“My answer is still no. Never!” Hector said firmly. “Even if you treat me, the marriage will still happen.”

“Don’t you fear dying?” Dustin asked, frowning.

“What’s there to fear? Everyone dies eventually. The only difference is when,” Hector replied calmly.

“You really are different. Most people don’t think about death so easily,” Dustin sighed. He had doubts after hearing Ruth earlier, but talking to Hector made him realize the older man wasn’t afraid of death at all.

Stubborn people like Hector were always the hardest to deal with.

“It’s pointless to flatter me now. Just tell me how much you want for saving me today, and let’s forget everything else,” Hector said coldly.

“You don’t need to pay me. I did what I needed to do. I just want to see Natasha,” Dustin admitted.

“Why do you want to see her? You should know there’s no future for you two!” Hector warned.

“If there isn’t anything wrong, then it’s fine to meet a friend, right? Besides, Mrs. Harmon already said yes to this earlier,” Dustin said.
