An Understated Dominance - Chapter 452
Knowing Natasha’s temper, eloping seemed like something she might actually do. With the family gathering coming up soon, Mrs. Davys couldn’t let that happen.
“Fine. You can stay,” Natasha said, not wanting to argue. She pulled Dustin over to the gazebo by the pond.
Mrs. Davys was about to follow them when Ruth stopped her. “My dad just said to keep an eye on them, not to stalk them! Why are you interrupting a couple’s private talk?”
Mrs. Davys thought for a moment and decided to stay where she was. After all, she could still see Natasha and Dustin clearly.
“How did you get in here, dear? My father isn’t the type to give in easily,” Natasha asked as she poured two cups of tea.

“I saved his life, so I asked to meet you in return,” Dustin replied.
He then explained everything that had happened.
After hearing the story, Natasha frowned. “What a reckless old man!”
“That’s why I came to talk to you. What should we do?” Dustin asked, feeling helpless.
“I’ve been thinking about that too. There are only two ways to stop this wedding. We can either change my father’s mind or force the Grant family to propose an annulment first.” Natasha paused for a moment. “But my father is too stubborn. He’s even willing to die for the family, so persuading him will be hard unless we can remove his worries.”
“What worries?” Dustin asked, intrigued.
Natasha sighed. “Years ago, our family upset someone called the Dark Lord. He’s a cruel and ruthless person who uses terrible methods. He has been tormenting our family for years, killing someone from time to time. Recently, he has…”
Things have been getting more dangerous lately, and even Fletcher Lawson is now working for the Dark Lord. It’s clear that the Dark Lord is not just a problem for my father but a constant headache for my entire family. My parents decided to marry me off to the Grant family to keep me safe and to gain their strength to fight the Dark Lord.
Dustin suddenly understood. “So, if we can get rid of the Dark Lord, your dad might change his mind about the marriage?”
“Exactly,” Nasha replied, nodding. “Without the Dark Lord, our family would be safe again.”
Dustin’s expression hardened. “Where can I find the Dark Lord? I’ll take care of him.”
Natasha shook her head, a bitter smile on her lips. “It’s not that easy. Nobody knows where he is. He’s hidden so well that I don’t even know what he looks like.”
Dustin frowned. “Finding someone who is a complete mystery will be tough. Since getting to the Dark Lord seems impossible, we need to focus on getting the Grant family to annul the engagement first.”
Natasha’s voice became sharp. “Knowing Tyler Grant, he can’t stand anything that isn’t perfect. Tomorrow, when they send the gifts, I’ll tell him that I’m already yours. With his pride, he won’t accept that. He might even break off our engagement right then and there!”
“Are you sure this will work?” Dustin asked, looking uncertain.
“It’s worth a try,” Natasha said with a mischievous grin. “No matter what happens, I’ll make a scene tomorrow. If that doesn’t work, I have a backup plan. The Grant family would never want a daughter-in-law like me!”
“What’s your backup plan?” Dustin asked, his eyes lighting up with curiosity.
“That’s a secret for now. You’ll find out tomorrow,” Natasha teased, enjoying the mystery.
It’s a trump card. She wouldn’t show it unless she really had to.
