Dustin looked around at the unfriendly faces surrounding him and gave a small, cold smile. They really didn’t understand how wrong they were. If he had known how things would turn out, he wouldn’t have bothered saving anyone. Now, not only had he failed to win their favor, but he had also brought trouble upon himself. What bad luck!

“Why so quiet, Dustin? Are you feeling guilty and afraid to speak?” Quentin asked, glaring at him. He seemed determined to get to the truth.

“You’ve already said everything that needs to be said. What more can I add?” Dustin replied with a scoff. “I saved your lives, yet you insist I poisoned you and act all high and mighty. I’ve never met anyone as ungrateful as you all.”

“Humph! How dare you still defend yourself?!” Quentin shot back, his eyes cold. “If you didn’t poison us, explain why you have the antidote.”

“Exactly! Why do you have the antidote?!” the others chimed in, their voices rising. It was hard not to be suspicious given the strange circumstances.

“I’m a doctor and know a lot about medicine. Isn’t it normal for me to have the means to cure you from poison?” Dustin explained calmly.

“I can confirm that Dustin is a very skilled doctor!” Natasha said confidently.

“Me too!” Ruth added. They believed in Dustin’s abilities and character without a doubt.

“Okay, even if you’re a doctor and just happened to have the antidote, why didn’t you get poisoned? Don’t tell me it’s because you have a strong immune system,” Quentin challenged.

“You’re right. I am immune to all poisons,” Dustin said seriously. With his skills, common poisons didn’t affect him at all. Even the Deadly Slither’s poison, known for being one of the most dangerous, only made him feel slightly unwell.

“Did you hear that? What a ridiculous excuse!” Quentin exclaimed, scoffing. “Dustin, oh Dustin! You’re quite the liar. Like the rest of us, you’re human. What makes you think you can claim you’re immune to poison?”

“Seriously! Immune to poison? That sounds like nonsense!” someone else chimed in.

“Exactly! Only the person who poisoned us could come up with such a crazy excuse!” another voice added.

“Let’s not waste more time. We need to hold him down and get some answers!” someone yelled.

The crowd was furious, clearly not believing Dustin.

“Dad, you’re the head of the family! You need to say something!” Natasha pleaded, sensing the situation was getting out of control.

Hector frowned, unsure of what to say. While he believed Dustin was innocent, he couldn’t ignore the threat to the family. There were still doubts surrounding Dustin, making it difficult for him to make a decision.

“Let me take care of this, Hector,” Trent said. “I’ve always handled the family’s safety. We need to investigate this thoroughly, whether Dustin is innocent or not.”

“Trent’s right! For our safety, we must act cautiously! Men, detain him!” Quentin ordered with a swift gesture.

“Yes, sir!” A group of family guards stepped forward, swords drawn, surrounding Dustin.

“Stop!” Natasha shouted, her anger rising. “If anyone tries anything foolish, I won’t hold back!”

“Natasha, you need to think about the bigger picture,” Trent said.

“Listen, if Dustin is innocent, I will make sure his name is cleared. I won’t condemn him,” he said firmly.

“What’s the difference between condemning him and arresting him in front of everyone?” Natasha asked, looking worried.

“I just need him to cooperate with the investigation. I promise I won’t hurt him,” he replied.

“Dustin needs to be involved, Natasha. This is serious, and we need to get to the bottom of it,” Jessica added. “I’m afraid we’ll have to ask a bit from him this time.”
