An Understated Dominance - Chapter 47
“Mr. Harmon, I need to go to another appointment. Please excuse me.” After a few more words, Duane prepared to leave. He had come to see a well-known doctor but didn’t want to stick around for what he considered a waste of time.
“Mr. Welch, I think you should listen to Mr. Rhys and stay in Swinton for the next few days to avoid any trouble,” Natasha suggested kindly.
“Natasha, you don’t need to worry about me. You should focus on yourself,” Duane said thoughtfully. “I remember your engagement to Tyler Grant is coming up soon. I doubt he would like it if you were too close to other men.” Natasha frowned at his comment; it hit a nerve.
“It’s just an engagement. We’re not married yet. If it comes to it, I can always break it off,” she replied casually.
“Break off the engagement? That’s the Grant family you’re talking about. Have you thought about what that might mean?” Duane looked confused.
“What consequences? They can’t do anything to me,” Natasha answered calmly.
“The Grant family might not act against you, but what about the man beside you? You know how the Grants operate. The closer you get to him, the more danger he could be in,” Duane said, glancing at Dustin. His meaning was clear.
“I don’t believe Tyler would cause any trouble!” Natasha replied, keeping her expression neutral.
“I’m just reminding you. What you do is your choice.” Duane smiled as he walked away.
“What he says makes sense. You need to handle things with the Grant family,” Andrew warned.
“Grandfather, I know what to do,” Natasha nodded.
Even though she had been engaged to Tyler since childhood, she had never developed feelings for him. How could she marry someone she didn’t love? Besides, she disliked the idea of arranged marriages.
“Ms. Harmon, Sir Hummer is requesting to see you,” a bodyguard announced as he entered the room.
“Edwin Hummer?” Natasha raised an eyebrow. “I was just about to see him. I didn’t expect him to arrive first. Please, take him to the lounge; I’ll be there shortly.”
“Yes, Ms. Nicholson,” the bodyguard replied and left the room.
“Mr. Rhys, I’m going to find out what I can from Edwin. You can act as my bodyguard and improvise,” Natasha said, glancing at the man beside her.
“Okay,” Dustin agreed, nodding his head.
Today’s ceremony was a trap for their target, and now that he was here, they couldn’t let the chance slip away.
Three minutes later, Natasha and Dustin walked into another lounge. Edwin and Fletcher were sipping tea, relaxed, with a pair of twins standing behind them.
“Ms. Harmon, congratulations on your grand opening!” Edwin said warmly.
He looked friendly, but Natasha knew he was dangerous.
“Welcome, Sir Hummer. It’s a pleasure to have you here!” Natasha said cheerfully. Even though they were rivals, they needed to act polite.
“I see some new faces with you. Aren’t you going to introduce them?” Natasha asked, looking at Fletcher and the two men.
“Oh! This is an old friend of mine, Mr. Lawson. He helps me with my personal affairs. And these two are his apprentices,” Edwin introduced them without hesitation.
“So you’re Mr. Lawson. It’s great to meet you,” Natasha said with a smile.
“Mr. Lawson, I need to speak with Ms. Harmon. You can leave the room,” Edwin instructed, signaling for them to go.
“Yes, sir,” they replied and exited the lounge.
