At Spices Diner, Florence sat in a booth, taking in her surroundings and occasionally making comments. “Look, Dahlia! Everything is so different here in Millsburg. Every diner looks so fancy! I’ve made up my mind! I’m staying here for good! This city is so big and modern! Everything is so convenient, way better than stuffy old Swinton!”

Dahlia could only listen as Florence rambled on. She had planned to come to Millsburg alone for her new job, but Florence and James insisted on coming with her. They said they didn’t want her to be alone and wanted to help take care of her.

“Mom, does Aunt Victoria live nearby?” James suddenly asked.

“She does! And I’ve invited her to lunch. She should be here soon,” Florence replied with a nod.

Just then, a group of three entered the diner, led by a glamorous middle-aged woman dressed in gold from head to toe. She was Florence’s sister, Victoria Franklin, shining with gold necklaces, earrings, and rings. Behind her were Julie and a handsome young man.

“Victoria! You’re here! Come sit down!” Florence exclaimed, standing up to greet them.

“Florence, why did you decide to visit Millsburg?” Victoria asked, eyeing her sister and showing off her gold bangles and thick rings.

“Dahlia is running a company here, so we came along to support her,” Florence said with a laugh. Then she noticed just how flashy Victoria was dressed. “Wow, did you hit the jackpot? Where did you get all that jewelry?”

“Ha! These…”

“Are you kidding? I’ve got tons of stuff at home!” Victoria said with a smug smile. “I have to brag a little—my daughter just made a hundred million dollars, and she bought me some beautiful jewelry.”

“What? A hundred million dollars?” Florence’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Julie, when did you become so successful?” Dahlia had worked hard for three years to start Quine Group, and even she didn’t have a hundred million in cash. Julie had really hit the jackpot!

“Oh, Aunt Florence, did you forget I graduated from a top university? I’ve always been capable! You just didn’t know,” Julie said, crossing her arms proudly. She had returned to Millsburg, enjoying life after selling Florence’s sapphire.

“I guess I never realized,” Florence replied with an awkward smile.

“Florence, how long do you think it takes Dahlia to earn a hundred million? A year or two? Julie did it in just three days!” Victoria announced, beaming with pride.

“Three days? You wouldn’t get rich that quickly even if you robbed a bank!” James chimed in, skeptical.

“Oh, you have such a narrow view of things,” Julie said with a sneer.

“Victoria, who’s that with you?” Florence asked, noticing the charming young man standing next to Julie.

“Oh, this is my daughter’s boyfriend, Terrence Stone,” Victoria said, her pride growing even more. “He’s a manager at Brooks Corporation. A great young man with lots of connections! Do you know Brooks Corporation? It’s worth billions!”

“Worth billions?” Florence was taken aback. Cardinal Group was impressive enough for her. The idea of a company worth even more was astonishing.

The idea of billions was hard to believe. Was this the kind of greatness that Millsburg could provide?
