An Understated Dominance - Chapter 471
said, trying to ease the tension.
“Really?” Florence raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised.
“Yes! I thought it would be nice to catch up,” Dahlia replied, her voice cheerful.
Terrence, still watching Dahlia, cleared his throat. “Well, I’m glad to see everyone together. Let’s enjoy our meal,” he said, trying to shift the focus away from the awkward situation.
“Right, let’s eat!” Florence said, forcing a smile as she sat down. The waitstaff soon brought out their meals, and the table filled with delicious dishes.

As they started to eat, Dustin looked around the table. “This place has a great reputation. I’ve heard the food is amazing,” he said, trying to make conversation.
“Yeah, it is,” Dahlia agreed, smiling at him. She appreciated his effort to lighten the mood.
Terrence, however, didn’t seem to be paying attention to the food. He was still focused on Dahlia, leaning in a little too close. “So, what do you do, Dahlia?” he asked, his interest clear.
Dahlia smiled politely. “I work in marketing for the Cardinal Group,” she said, glancing at Florence, who seemed to be softening up just a bit.
“Impressive! You must be doing very well,” Terrence said, his eyes sparkling.
“Thank you,” she replied, feeling a mix of flattery and discomfort.
Just then, Florence interjected, “Let’s talk about something else. How about the upcoming Cardinal Group projects?”
Dustin nodded, grateful for the change of topic. “Yes, I’ve heard there are some exciting things in the works. I’d love to hear more about it,” he said, looking at Dahlia.
Florence seemed pleased at this direction. “Absolutely! We are planning some big changes,” she said, her professional side coming out.
As the conversation flowed, Dahlia felt relieved. The tension was easing, and she was glad to see everyone engaging. She hoped this lunch would end on a good note.
“Fine, whatever. Since you’re already here, you can join us,” Florence said, not wanting to argue.
“Have a seat,” Dahlia said, patting the chair next to her for Dustin to sit down.
Florence’s kind gesture caught Terrence’s eye. He felt a sharp pang of jealousy. “Why would such a beautiful and caring woman be interested in a guy like him?” he thought.
“Hey, you don’t sound like you’re from around here. What do you do for work?” Terrence asked with a fake smile.
“What does he do? Hah! He’s just an unqualified old medical practitioner,” Florence scoffed. To her, Dustin’s success was only because of Natasha. He was just a pretty face.
“You practice medicine without qualifications?” Terrence laughed, surprised. “That’s unusual. You must be struggling to get by.” He looked down on Dustin with contempt.
“Yeah, it’s tough. I’m lucky if I see five patients in a month,” Dustin replied calmly, unfazed by Terrence’s remarks.
“Then why do you still do it?” Terrence adjusted his tie and smirked. “How about you work for me instead? I need a chauffeur. If you can drive, I’ll pay you ten thousand dollars a month. What do you think?”
“Thanks for the offer, but I’m not interested,” Dustin said, shaking his head.
