Terrence smirked, feeling confident. “So what? What can you do to me?” he challenged, unaware of the trouble he was inviting.

Roderick Brooks replied coldly, “I’m Roderick Brooks, and you work for me. What do you think I can do to you?”

“Still pretending, I see. Do you really think I’m going to believe this nonsense?” Terrence scoffed.

“Terrence Stone, I’m officially firing you from Brooks Corporation, effective today. Don’t bother coming in tomorrow,” Roderick stated firmly.

Terrence laughed loudly. “You’re firing me? You’re hilarious! I have a powerful ally in Brooks Corporation. Even you, Roderick Brooks, can’t fire me, let alone someone like you!”

“Is that so? Why don’t you tell me who your ally is?” Roderick asked, his tone serious. If someone like Terrence was in charge, it was time for a change at Brooks Corporation.

“You don’t need to know who it is. Just remember, you’ll regret messing with me!” Terrence bragged.

“How arrogant!” Roderick shot back. “I don’t want to waste any more time with you. Give the phone to Mr. Rhys!”

“What’s wrong? Can’t keep up the act?” Terrence teased as he tossed the phone back to Dustin. “This guy you found is terrible! He lacks the charisma to pull off this role. He needs to go practice!”

“Actor?” Dustin chuckled. “I wasn’t lying: he really is Roderick Brooks!”

Terrence shrugged, “If he’s Roderick Brooks, then I’m his dad!” He said this without thinking twice.

Dustin found Terrence amusing. Terrence was very stubborn. Despite Dustin reminding him several times that he was actually talking to Roderick Brooks, Terrence continued to act arrogantly. Dustin thought he would have a rough time at work the next day.

“Mr. Rhys, do you know this person?” Roderick asked, trying to keep his anger in check.

“I don’t know him well. This is our first meeting,” Dustin replied with a chuckle.

Roderick felt relieved. If Dustin had been close to Terrence, he might have acted differently. Since they weren’t friends, Roderick felt he could handle the situation himself.

“Alright, Mr. Brooks, I’ll let you get back to your day. I’ll reach out to you another time,” Dustin said quickly before hanging up. His goal was to warn Terrence to tone down his arrogance. He never expected Terrence would insult his boss.

“Your act has been exposed, man. Why keep pretending?” Terrence sneered at Dustin, acting like he understood everything.

“Hah! I think he’s the only one who believes his act! Some people really have no shame!” Julie shook her head, looking at Dustin as if he were a clown.

“What’s going on here, Florence? Are you insulting us by bringing a scammer to our table?” Victoria was upset.

“Dustin! Can you stop with the nonsense? Aren’t you embarrassed? Because I sure am!” Florence glared at him. Why did he have to act so important when they were just having a meal? And now, he had been caught in a lie! It was so embarrassing!

“There’s no point in saying anything else. You’ll see the truth tomorrow,” Dustin replied.

He gave a faint smile, knowing it wouldn’t matter what he said. These people weren’t going to believe him no matter what.

“Quick! This is the place! I saw him go in!” someone shouted.

Suddenly, there was a commotion at the door. Everyone turned to see a large man with a group of tough-looking guys entering. The leader was Duncan Doyle, who had a run-in with Dustin at a bar just a few days ago.

“There he is!” Duncan called out as his eyes scanned the diner. Spotting Dustin, he marched over, his henchmen following closely behind.
