An Understated Dominance - Chapter 48
Fletcher glanced at Dustin before stepping outside with his apprentices. “You should go too,” Natasha said, urging him to leave the room. Dustin nodded and followed suit. They had a silent agreement, both aware of their hidden agendas.
“So, you’re Natasha’s bodyguard? You don’t look tough,” the twins said, eyeing Dustin like he was their next target.
“Is that so? You’ll see soon enough,” Dustin replied as he walked down the stairs. “Liam and Noah, follow him and take care of him,” Fletcher ordered coldly.
To Fletcher, Dustin was just an insignificant obstacle. He believed his apprentices could easily handle him.
“Got it!” Liam and Noah smirked and quietly trailed after Dustin. Once he reached the garden and entered the underground parking lot, which was still closed and empty since the company had just launched, he felt at ease.
“Boy! You’re digging your own grave!”
At that moment, Liam and Noah stepped out, ready to confront him.
“Don’t forget, sometimes the prey can turn into the predator,” Dustin said, turning to face them calmly, as if he had planned this all along.
“I don’t know what you mean, but you’re definitely the prey!” the twins said with sinister smiles.
Just as they prepared to attack, loud footsteps echoed in the hall. A group of thugs armed with machetes and steel pipes burst in.
“Ha! This isn’t enough to scare us!” Liam and Noah laughed, clearly underestimating the thugs. Dustin raised an eyebrow, sensing that the situation was getting out of hand. He didn’t need help to deal with these two.
“Dustin! Your time has come!” Chris shouted, stepping out from the crowd.
“It’s you! Are you here to join in too?” Dustin asked, narrowing his eyes in surprise. “Join in? I’m—”
“I’m going to break you today!” Chris shouted angrily.
“I don’t think I have any issue with you,” Dustin replied calmly.
“You may not, but I do!” Chris yelled, filled with resentment. “Why do you deserve Ms. Harmon’s attention? Why do I feel inferior to you? Why am I being pushed aside like I’m nothing? Why?”
“You brought people here because of that?” Dustin asked, confused. He didn’t understand why Chris was so upset. Was this jealousy turning into anger?
“Of course not! You’ve been an eyesore to me for a long time! I can’t get close to Dahlia because of you. Your very existence is a roadblock in my life!” Chris roared. Over time, his hatred for Dustin had grown. He had always thought of Dustin as a nobody, but things changed when he learned about Natasha.
Dustin might just be a gold digger, but he could become a real threat if he stayed close to Natasha and caused problems. Chris decided he needed to act first and get rid of Dustin.
He refused to believe Natasha would ever fall for someone he thought was worthless!
