An Understated Dominance - Chapter 480
The fork flew through the air like an arrow and struck Duncan in the arm. “Ah!” he yelled, sweat pouring down his face. “Remember, if this happens again, I won’t stop at just an arm,” Dustin warned him.
“You’re crazy!” Duncan cried, pressing on his bleeding arm as he ran away, his previous moments of pride now turned into embarrassment.
“Dustin, what was that thing you pulled out earlier? Why did that guy kneel when he saw it?” Dahlia asked curiously after Duncan had left.
The others were silent, equally confused.
“Oh, two days ago, I saved a patient. His family gave me this badge and said it could save my life if I ever got into trouble. I didn’t think I’d actually need it,” Dustin explained with a chuckle.

“Wow, that’s really lucky,” Dahlia replied, surprised. She thought Dustin might have been in serious trouble.
“Is that really impressive? In the end, he just got lucky!” Terrence said sarcastically.
Dustin felt a twinge of shame. “You got all the attention because of that badge. I’m tall, rich, and handsome, but why am I overshadowed by you?” he thought bitterly.
“Dustin, to create something strong, you need a good hammer. A favor can only take you so far, so don’t get too cocky. You might not be this lucky next time!” Julie said sharply.
Her man was the best in the world. What was a simple doctor compared to him?
“Really? I guess,” Dustin replied with a casual smile. He didn’t feel like defending himself. There were always jealous people who couldn’t appreciate someone else’s success.
“Dustin, that badge of yours is really nice. Can I borrow it for a few days?” Florence asked.
Florence’s eyes sparkled as she looked at the Consultant Badge in Dustin’s hand. She thought if she could get her hands on that badge, it would give her power over others.
“This badge already belongs to someone. Even if I gave it to you, you couldn’t use it. You might even get into trouble,” Dustin said, shaking his head.
He knew Florence well. If she had that badge, she could cause chaos.
“Hmph! What kind of trouble? I think you’re just being selfish!” Florence’s expression grew cold.
“Mom, why do you want Dustin’s badge?” Dahlia asked, frowning.
“I just thought it looked nice and wanted to see it up close. Who knew he’d be so petty about it? Forget it! I don’t want it anymore! It’s just a stupid badge; what’s so special about it? You can keep it until it rots! Let’s go!” Florence was angry and didn’t feel like eating anymore, so she insisted they leave.
“Even at her age, she still throws tantrums like a child,” Dahlia said, shaking her head in disbelief.
“I’ve gotten used to it after all these years,” Dustin replied casually, then changed the topic. “By the way, didn’t you come to talk to me about something? What was it?”
“It was nothing. I just wanted to recommend you for a job,” Dahlia said, forcing a smile.
“A job? What kind of job?” Dustin was surprised.
“To be the Chief Security Officer of Nicholson Corp. What do you think?” Dahlia raised an eyebrow.
“Chief Security Officer? How did you come up with that idea?” Dustin asked, confused.
“This is my first time in Millsburg, and I don’t know the people or the area well. Taking on a multibillion-dollar company…”
Dahlia spoke clearly, “I need someone to help me with the corporation. There will be many challenges ahead. The security department is crucial for our safety. We have to handle any problems quickly. There are important roles in the company, and I can’t trust just anyone for this job; it has to be someone I know well. After thinking it over, I believe you’re the best choice for the role!”
She chose him as the Chief Security Officer, partly because she trusted him and partly because she wanted him close. If he accepted the position, she wouldn’t have to worry about Natasha trying to win him over. With time, feelings might grow between them. Ultimately, it would be up to her to guide what happened next.
