An Understated Dominance - Chapter 482
“Mr. Dustin Rhys.”
“Who’s Dustin Rhys? I don’t know him. Get lost and stop wasting my time!” the guard shouted. Every day, many people sent gifts to the Hill family, and it had become quite normal.
“But Mr. Rhys asked me to deliver this to Sir Patrick myself,” Edmund said, feeling anxious.
“Listen, I told you to get lost!” The guard was growing more impatient.
Edmund felt nervous and stepped back slightly. “Could you at least deliver the message?”

“Who are you to ask me that? Just leave before I get angry!” The guard’s face was cold and unwelcoming.
“What’s going on here?” A tall, strong man walked out just then.
The guard immediately brightened up. “Mr. Torben, it’s nothing. Just a beggar causing trouble wanting to deliver a gift to Mr. Patrick. I’ll make him go away.”
“Wait a minute,” Torben said, raising his hand. He turned to Edmund. “Do you know Patrick?”
“No,” Edmund replied, shaking his head, fear in his eyes. “Mr. Rhys asked me to deliver a bottle of medicinal wine to Sir Patrick. Can you please help me with that?”
“Dustin?” A cold look flashed in Torben’s eyes. “So, you’re here on his behalf.”
“It seems you know Mr. Rhys. Thank goodness,” Edmund said, feeling relieved as if he had found a helper.
“Mmhm, thank goodness,” Torben sneered. “You mentioned a bottle of medicinal wine. It’s for Patrick?”
Edmund nodded. “Yes, that’s right.”
“It’s not poisoned, is it?” Torben narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
“Poisoned?” Edmund was shocked and waved his hands in panic. “No way! This is medicinal wine to help the sick. It can’t have poison in it!”
“Really? Why don’t you try it?” Torben challenged.
“Then?” Torben asked with a mocking smile.
Edmund looked apologetic. “This is medicinal wine for Sir Patrick. Someone of my status can’t drink it.”
“What? You’re not going to listen to me?” Torben’s face turned dark. “You not drinking just makes the wine seem suspicious. Someone, take him away!”
“No, no, no! I’ll drink!” Edmund panicked and quickly opened the bottle, taking a small sip.
“That’s too little. Finish the whole bottle!” Torben commanded.
“What?” Edmund was shocked. He knew he would likely collapse if he drank it all.
“Not going to drink? Let me help you!” Torben grinned as he grabbed a handful of Edmund’s hair and forced his head back, making it easier to pour the wine down his throat.
As the wine slid down, Edmund coughed and choked, his face turning red with distress. He looked like he was in great pain.
Torben laughed loudly. “Drink up! Finish it all, buddy!” He kept forcing the wine into Edmund, enjoying the torment as if it were a game.
Even after the bottle was empty, Torben didn’t seem satisfied. He snapped his fingers and ordered, “This person is suspicious and must have poisoned the wine. Take him away for punishment!”
“I… I didn’t poison the wine,” Edmund gasped, lying on the floor, barely alive.
“Bastard, you’re still talking back?” Torben stepped on his face, sneering. “Trash like you is just a toy for us. Your life is in my hands! I’m in a bad mood today, so I’ll make sure you wish for death!”
